Course Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Prepare for the Claude Certified Architect – Foundations exam while building a practical Claude-powered application from the ground up.
This course goes beyond memorizing certification terminology. You will build ShopAssist AI, a realistic customer support assistant for an online store, and gradually develop it into a structured, tool-enabled, and production-oriented Claude system.
You will begin with the foundations of large language models and the Claude API, including API requests, multi-turn conversations, system prompts, model settings, and prompt evaluation. From there, you will learn how to generate reliable structured outputs, validate model responses, implement retry logic, and combine automated evaluation with human review.
As the project develops, you will connect Claude to external capabilities through tool use and Model Context Protocol concepts. You will design clear tool schemas, execute tool calls, configure access, handle structured errors, and build controlled agentic loops.
You will then explore more advanced architecture patterns, including coordinators, subagents, task decomposition, hooks, approval gates, handoffs, session state, context passing, scratchpads, and long-running workflows.
The course also covers practical Claude Code workflows, including:
CLAUDE configuration, rules, and memory
Session resume, compact, forks, and scratchpads
Commands, skills, plan mode, and iterative refinement
Claude Code integration with CI/CD and independent review
The curriculum is aligned with the five major certification domains:
Agentic Architecture and Orchestration
Design coordinated workflows using agentic loops, subagents, task delegation, context management, and controlled handoffs.
Tool Design and MCP Integration
Create effective tools, define schemas, configure access, manage MCP connections, and handle recoverable errors.
Claude Code Configuration and Workflows
Configure Claude Code for individual and team development workflows, project consistency, and automated review.
Prompt Engineering and Structured Output
Write clear prompts, apply few-shot examples and XML structure, generate schema-compliant outputs, and evaluate response quality.
Context Management and Reliability
Apply escalation, confidence handling, provenance, human review, error propagation, and production reliability patterns.
By the end of the course, you will be able to connect the certification concepts to real Claude application architecture. You will understand not only what the exam topics mean, but how they work together inside a practical, testable, and more production-ready AI system.
This course is ideal for developers, AI engineers, solution architects, technical consultants, and professionals preparing for the Claude Certified Architect – Foundations exam or building applications with Claude, MCP, agentic workflows, and Claude Code.

Good explanation. Its a bit fast and dont have breathing times when slides quickly move next. Need to add bit more time to reflect on whats said. Had to pause too many times. Hands on is good but I am not sure course covers required depth to handle the exam. Good refresher course may be

Good course, teaching with practical real world scenario rather than theory, makes it easy to understand the topics.

Lessons are a little bit faster as compared to the video lectures in Anthropic's own lectures. Otherwise, all good.

Really liked the way you nudged towards practical scenarios while helping prepare for the cert. Interview towards the end is definitely helpful in brain's rewiring. A few suggestions though: 1. Some guidance on initial setup steps and a cheat sheet/checklist for revision could be a great augmentation. 2. In a quiz, a retry flag being true for a validation error scenario is something i could not fully understand based on what I learnt here. Must have been my miss. Overall, loved it! Worth the time spent for sure and appreciate your help! Thanks a lot!

Great course overall, but I want to push back on one piece of content: the framing that if you haven't shipped agentic AI to production, you can't be considered for AI architecture roles. I have 20+ years shipping production systems. Agentic AI is a new instrument, not a new profession. It's like refusing to hire a proven composer because they haven't used a specific new synthesizer yet. The skill (reliability, failure handling, judgment under real constraints) transfers. The tool doesn't define the craft. This gate is also a young-field problem: almost nobody has years of experience in something that's 18-24 months old. Screening on tenure with a specific toolchain filters out exactly the senior engineers who'd ramp fastest. Would love to see the course address this tension directly, since it's the single biggest wall I keep running into in real hiring conversations.

Overall, this is a good course and worth taking. The material is solid and covers what it promises. Some explanations move quite fast and aren't clear enough on the first pass, so I found myself rewinding or looking things up elsewhere to fill in the gaps.

Course material and lecture are well thought out. Would be nice if free credits were given for Claude usage during course.
By Kateryna Protsenko on 8/18/2026
The course structure is solid and it covers all topics fully from exam guide. If you want to warm up everything before the exam - this is one of the best option!
