Course Description
While GUI's are not the first thing you think of when it comes to Powershell, it is often an overlooked option when it comes to Powershell tools. GUIs can sometimes help you facilitate your script and see all of your tool's options at a high level, while also helping to eliminate human error when it comes to typos (such as typing the correct employee name, or the correct parameter, and so on). Powershell GUI's also allow you to share your tool with delegates on your team or in your business, who may not be as comfortable working in a Powershell console environment.
In this course we look at the basics of GUIs, with recommended tools and concepts advocated by industry leaders and authors such as Don Jones and Jeffery Hicks. You have what it takes to make GUIs, and our aim in this course is to equip you with the basic skills, and inspire you to go forth and make your own GUIs for your awesome Powershell tools!

This course is more suitable for a beginner in writing ps scripts with a GUI editor. For the intermediate/advanced developer, this can be slow paced, Although saying that, there were some useful tips gained and the course is well defined for a beginner in mind. Not really suitable for intermediate/advanced PS users.

I was in the assumption that this course would go over the commands to draw the form, but it uses a tool to do the heavy lifting. The tool is no longer supported. In my environment one is not allowed to install this kind of "tools". If you can install and use these kind of tools, it will set you up for creating your own gui's in a good way.

I like the fact that the course wasn't too advanced since I'm just starting my GUI project. It gave me just enough material and hands-on experience to serve as a good foundation for some of the controls I would like to implement in my tool.

i don't get it why people are downvoting the course for the choosen tool to develop winforms. It just works fine, sure VS would have been preferred but hey as it works.

Tutor is talking about using tools that are no longer in development (AdminScriptEditor) and could either become unavailable any time, or have vulnerabilities. This does not feel like good advice and a modern alternative would be appreciated. In addition, I'm getting errors running the script in Powershell after it is generated using AdminScriptEditor so unsure if this is down to the tool generating outdated / bad scripts or something else going on. The information is presented well, but would definitely benefit from being updated / corrected.

Pretty interesting, kinda gave the basics. my biggest complaint is the inconsistencies in his audio/volume levels as there was a few sections that were super hard to hear even with my volume (both in udemy and system) turned all the way up, then a following section being super loud.

I really enjoyed this course and was able to follow along without too many issues. Any issues I encountered, I was able to figure out by reading the Output Box text. I'm hoping that there will be a slightly more advanced follow-on course, in the near future. Thank you :)

This was enough to kick start the creativity to make forms. However I feel it should have covered some more basics (not all but some) like reading logs from SQL and displaying it in a table, using API's, do while loop to continuously query something until a particular status is found, continuous pings, using a from and to date, etc etc.

Good material. I would have liked for the course to have utilized a IDE that was still supported instead of ASE. It was a good quick start guide to GUIs in PowerShell. Charts would be a great addition for report building and automating Outlook in the projects would have made things even better.

John, the instructor in this course, is incredibly knowledgeable, and very responsive to questions from students. If you want to know how to make a GUI front-end for your PowerShell script, this is the course for you!
