Course Description
If you've ever wanted to add your own personal touch to a website but felt a little overwhelmed by CSS, you’re not alone. CSS can seem tricky at first, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s where the CSS for Beginners course comes in.
Think of it as your friendly guide to making your website look exactly the way you want it to. You’ll start by dipping your toes into the basics—like customizing your own version of Google’s homepage. It’s a fun, hands-on way to get comfortable with CSS right from the start.
Once you’ve got the hang of a few simple concepts, we’ll move on to the good stuff—like learning three different ways to add CSS to your pages. You’ll see how to use colors creatively, whether you’re looking for classic web-safe shades or something a bit more vibrant.
We’ll also dive into how to style specific elements, like headers and lists, using base selectors. Then, we’ll crank things up a notch with Classes and IDs, giving you the power to take your designs to the next level.
One of the most confusing parts of CSS for beginners is the Box Model—but don’t worry, we’ll break it down with simple diagrams and real-world examples. You’ll get to experiment with the code alongside me, using free tools that make the learning process fun and interactive.
If you’ve ever struggled with CSS or just want a gentle introduction, this course is perfect for you. It’s all about making learning enjoyable and accessible. Plus, you can check out the first lecture for free—no strings attached.
Let’s make your website look just the way you’ve imagined. See you in the course!

I have written and published a number of books that are available on Amazon, including books on WordPress ("WordPress for Beginners 2026"), Self-Publishing ("Self-Publishing on Amazon 2025"), and A.I. (NotebookLM Mastery, ChatGPT for Beginners, ChatGPT for Seniors, AI for Students).
I also run a website called ezSEONews, where I provide tutorials on a number of skills required for running a successful website.
As an ex-schoolteacher, I hope I can make complicated topics simple to understand. I certainly enjoy trying!

As labeled, this course is basic, but it's way more basic than I anticipated. The examples are outdated by many years and the pacing is slow with redundant material in some areas. If you've had almost any exposure to CSS, you'll likely have already learned most of this course. The material presented here is clear and its age isn't a big deal because CSS at this level hasn't really changed.

I have actually written some fairly complex CSS in the past for my website www.philmalpas.com so this was just a refresher course for me. I suspect the course was written some time ago and it is no surprise therefore that the link to the CSE HTML Validator is no longer current. The course is fine as it goes but probably wasn't quite what I needed - it could do with an update perhaps.

I have taken other courses from Andrew and really learned a lot. He makes the information easy to understand, uses real-world examples and I have been able to apply the knowledge quickly after taking his classes. I learned Wordpress from him and now I am learning CSS. I highly recommend all of his classes.

I am disappointed that this course covered so little of css. I expected it to be far more complete. Andy is a good instructor, and I've gotten a lot out of his other courses, but this one falls short of being a true css course. It's worth the time as far as it goes. The part it covers deserves five stars.

I am creating a site with WordPress and very new to it. I chose one theme and stuck immediately when I started to customize it. I could not edit the header style. I learned from the forums that there no button you can press to edit it. I was very disappointed. Somehow I found this course, I never heard about CSS before.. And after listening first lectures - I fixed the problem!!! Of course I did not write the code myself, but I knew what to look for in forums and how to use it. I was verrry happy!! Highly recommend this course. It is easy to follow, gives needed information to start using CSS and enjoying the process to control your site design. Thank you Andrew for the course!!

Found this course helpful and very easy to follow a great introduction to CSS for beginners. I had taken another course that I found to hard to follow and understand so I'm glad to have found this course and would highly recommended it to any beginners. Alan Kelly

This course really over-delivered and gave me a solid foundation in CSS that I can continue to build on. The instructor, Andy Williams, was extremely knowledgeable and well-prepared. The videos and other materials were very high quality and easy to follow. I was immediately able to implement many of the things I learned in the course on a new website I was building for a client. Excellent course!

Andy Williams has managed to turn dry CSS coding on its head. This course was obviously well thought through, and Andy's clear, methodical delivery is easy to follow. His explanations are thorough and without fluff, empowering even the novice to transform ordinary websites into attractive magnets! Thank you, and I look forward to your other courses.

Dr. Andy does a good job of explaining concepts and presenting examples. Both in this course and in others I have taken from him. This was a review course for me as I have written CSS before but not for some time. I liked the basic start which explained the syntax of how to setup any CSS basic statement. The course then progresses logically thru the color manipulation, fonts + font families+styles. He presents the difference between classes and ID CSS elements and how they are written and used. Explains the difference between inline CSS applied to a single page element on the page, internal css where the style sheet resides in the header of the document and how to make an external style sheet and pull it into the document with an href url. The explanation of the box model was helpful to me as that was not being used too much when I was writing CSS. Overall a good course for learning beginning CSS. The biggest improvements would be to even out the volume between videos so it was more constant instead of being ok in one video and too soft in the next. I noticed some of videos appeared blurry to me but that was because I had the HD disabled. Once I found the button to turn HD on, the blurry videos went away. The audio was not bad enough to take a way a star so I upgraded my review from 4 to 5 stars.

Found this course to be easy to follow as well as instructive and taught in an relaxed manner. I'm not completely new to CSS but this straightforward course gave me some new insights into areas I thought I already knew. For someone looking for a primer in CSS this course fits the bill perfectly.
