Course Description

Welcome to “Data Center Infrastructure Design - An Introduction”…where we take a focused look at data center design from an infrastructure point of view.

We define data center infrastructure as the spaces, pathways, racks, cabinets, cabling, power, grounding, and cooling – all the elements that must be put in place to reliably support many network devices so they can operate without interruption.

Data centers come in many forms and sizes, such as hyperscale, cloud, colocation, enterprise, and edge. Our focus is on the enterprise facility, which can be in a dedicated stand-alone structure or in a space within an office building, hospital, airport, sports stadium, or university campus, to name a few examples.

A data center serves as the central repository of an organization’s intellectual property. It requires state-of-the-art security, fire suppression, environmental controls, power distribution, network equipment, and tools for continuous monitoring and maintenance.

The network cabling system is a critical component of reliable communications within the data center and with sites and networks outside the data center.

This is an introductory course, intended to give you a detailed overview of standards-based guidelines and recommendations for data center infrastructure design.

We know that your time is valuable. Our objective is to provide you with the maximum amount of information in a minimum amount of time, so we have tightly scripted each of the lectures. We hope you find the contents useful and interesting.

The course provides a clear, standards-based overview of data center infrastructure from a structured cabling perspective, including spaces, pathways, racks, cabling, power, grounding, and cooling. The lectures are concise and well organized, which makes it easy to follow and fits well into a busy schedule. I especially liked the focus on practical infrastructure considerations that support reliable data center operation. I would only suggest adding more real-world design examples, drawings, and calculation exercises (power, cooling, capacity planning) to make the course even more hands-on.

It was great session and got better understanding within very short session . Contents very specific and informative very useful session

The lecture is very thorough and detailed - it's just bone dry, which I'm not sure can be helped. :-) The "don't do this" pictures lend perspective on why we jump through the hoops.

Please include more examples and visuals. Also variation and modulation of voice of instructor will make the presentation interesting.

Excellent, to the point course. Explained in easy, lucid language, an ideal course, for getting a hands on understanding of Data Centers.

By Ricafort Jezreel Ledesma on 6/1/2023

It should have more visual items included in the sample. Long length cable routing overview for power routing, fiber routing and copper routing must be shown as well to fully understand the cable space management.

This video is very informative. This is suitable for fresh graduates and interested individuals with minimum knowledge about the Data Center Infrastructure. Kudos to the team. More videos, please!
