Practical, hands-on course that's heavy on production and light on theory. Goes through many aspects of Django with detours into useful add-ons to enhance the Ecommerce functionality. From Bootstrap and custom icons to search functionality, Stripe Payment Processor and Mailgun Auto-Emailer, I learned a lot in terms of how web-sites can be put together relatively quickly with the right tools. There's always room for improvement and enhancement. Refunds/returns and product reviews modules would be interesting. If you've never used Django before I'd recommend an intro course as the pace here seems more for intermediates who can follow along with all the abstractions assumed (Django apps, models,views, templates, routing, admin. Being heavy on the practical side, this course is more of a code-along with terse explanations given. I didn't mind this as I could see where we were going with it at each step, but a total beginner may feel overwhelmed. Thank you Nestor for contributing a practical, useful tutorial to Udemy. This is most definitely not a "reading the docs demonstration" course. The pace and overall length is manageable. This is the first time I complained to myself that a Udemy programming course was too short.

This is the only up to date course I could find on building an e-commerce site with Django. The Good: You are literally looking over the Authors shoulder as he builds a e-commerce website using Django from start to finish. He leaves absolutely nothing out. The Bad: The downside of this course is that he explains somethings very well, and completely glosses over other things. A few examples of this are, the author goes from using Function Based Views, to using Class Based Views (CBV), but doesn't really explain CBV; another example is that he walks you through all the steps of configure Apache for WSGY, but doesn't provide much guidance on why he is doing, what he is doing. My only guess is that explanations would have taken him too far off track, but some links would have been nice to help fill in the gaps. The Ugly: I was a little frustrated with the course because it is difficult to follow along with all the coding examples, after about 3/4 of the way through the course I stopped coding along with the author and just watched. There is much that could be done to improve the course, but it definitely accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is building a Django e-commerce site from beginning to end. I couldn't give the course 5 stars, but if you are an aspiring Django developer this course is a must have.

The course is awesome because it is not filled with hours of fluff, the instructor (Nestor) gets right to the point of things, doesn't waste time explaining simplistic concepts and jumps right into the code, and he also codes live rather than copy pasting. Perhaps best of all is that he is quick to respond to questions. I was even trying to learn to upload the project to a different server than the one covered in the class, and he PERSONALLY assisted me, this kind of care is unheard of!

I rated this course 3.5, and the reason is as follows: Course contents: 5 Code explanation: 1 Q&A response: 5 The design of this project is really nice, which does motivate me.However, he lacks in-depth explanation when he's writing codes, and that makes me sometimes irritated. Not easy for totally beginners, I mean for those who don't have any prior experiences on dajngo, or rails. Course contents are good, so if Nestor gives us a detailed explanation on the codes he's writing, I would give this course 5 stars. Overall, nice! What's more, he replies our questions really quickly. I do appreciate that. I do hope that Nestor will make some courses like "Airbnb like app", "Video subscription app" and so on. I will absolutely take those courses if created.

A introduction to shopping with DJango, Leaves much to be desired but.. He does his best and is somewhat effective; Text is so small on screen doesn't bother to zoom in; So much back and forth switching is very dizzying; No comments, not much explaination While I cannot Recommend because of my difficulties, THEY ARE MY Difficulties and I'm sure other developers with MORE knowledge than myself will be able to make better use of this course. Nestor is one of the few people who responds and tried his best to work with me even while I was extremely frustrated. For that reason alone I recommend Nestor, Thank You For Helping me even though I bit off more than I could chew;

to be honest i purchased this course and kept avoiding it. infact at on point i was going to get a refund without properly going through it (i was speed glancing sections) . but after spending time on a few complete beginners courses i thought i would give it a go reluctantly to my surprise it is very indepth there are so many sections and levels to it it answered questions other courses left me pondering on . the pace is good (a little fast sometimes but that is a good thing because other courses sometimes leaving you just shouting ffs get on with it ) . if you are a complete complete beginner i would recommend you probably leave this till you have a basic grasp of what you are learning however this course does exactly as it says on the tin it is an instruction manual on how to build a shopping cart and the beauty of it is it really does cover it not only on django but his use of bootstrap which was on my list to learn boy has he given me a better understanding. after completing this course i am going to repeat it again as there was so much to digest . Great job Nestor if you can do another tutorial ie a recruitment web or social media website that would be great :)

New students need to know some Python basics to follow along the course. This is extremely hands-on course, I like it a lot. You can build complete e-shop from scratch learning main Django concepts and features, especially payment processing - one of my favorite lectures. You'll have a practical knowledge how to work with both front end and back end parts of your application. Nestor gives very interesting examples about customizing some built-in Django modules, e.g. admin page. The course covers Bootstrap - the most popular CSS framework. The Instructor responses all questions quickly and thoroughly. A little advise: It would be nice to add a section about the unit testing. Looking forward for new courses from you, Nestor. Thanks. its good..but for sure can be improved.. first of all there is something missing in the course : this course does not discuss returns,cancelled orders and refunds..which is very important..I have asked the instructor and he said he will add later..but nothing till now.. another thing there are many commands that are just skimmed without explanation.. I understand this is not a basic course but some commands really need to be explained..lastly adding PayPal as an alternative way would be also another thing to consider . the instructor did a good job but for sure there are some stuff missing that should be covered.

For someone not too experienced there is a lot to take on. Nestor has done a great job of taking you through the build. He very quickly responded to my questions which were all resolved. With the addition of his procedure to include Postgresql as an option (which most of us would probably need) the course has everything you could want to get up and running with a fast responsive professional looking shopping cart. I thoroughly recommend Nestor's course and thank him for his excellent work.

I have not finished the course yet but so far the instructions are clear to the point and practical. I would also like to thank instructor Mr. Nestor for the awesome support. I have said this earlier and would not shy away saying again that, "You provide the best support here on Udemy and have great pedagogical skills - keep it up". I am delighted to be your student and happy to have bought this course because of the fantastic support you provide. One example of Nestor's fantastic support is that even though 'postgres' was not part of this course but Nestor made sure that he is ready to provide fantastic support to his subscribed students and he posted concise and precise steps to help you get started with psotgres also. And I have tried connecting to the postgresql on windows 10 pro machine following Nestor's posted instructions and I successfully got my database connected with my Django application.
