Course Description

Automated Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) is a critical part of DevOps and is a skill that is in high demand.

In this course, we will examine the subject in complete depth by walking through an example project and building a complex CI/CD pipeline on AWS. You will gain the following five extremely valuable and highly sought after skills:

  1. Learn to conceptualize and design CI/CD pipelines for your own web applications
  2. Deploy and scale web applications on Amazon's Cloud infrastructure using AWS Elastic Beanstalk
  3. Build pipelines on Amazon's Cloud infrastructure using AWS CodePipeline
  4. Learn advance topics such as Elastic Beanstalk Extensions and AWS Lambda to run custom actions in your CodePipeline
  5. Monitor your automated CI/CD pipelines

The tech landscape today is extremely competitive and is moving at an incredibly fast pace. With the emergence of cloud-based infrastructure, many startups are disrupting long-established businesses, industries and sectors almost on a daily basis as their entry barriers and costs keep on going down. DevOps and continuous integration / continuous deployment processes allows team to iterate often and innovate faster.

After taking this course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment processes. You will be able to confidently design a CI/CD pipeline for your own web applications. You will gain an in-depth understanding of AWS CodePipeline and AWS Elastic Beanstalk services.

With these skills, you will be able to build fully automate deployments of your web applications on Amazon’s Cloud infrastructure.

The course is very hands-on and together we will walk through an example project. We will pick a web application and deploy it on Amazon’s Cloud using AWS Elastic Beanstalk. I will then demonstrate and create a fully automated CI/CD pipeline for our web application using AWS CodePipeline. I will cover both of these AWS services in complete depth while also giving you easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

We will also cover some advance topics such as ebextensions and adding AWS Lambda functions in your AWS CodePipeline.

What i liked about the couurse was starting from the basics , the duration ( short and chrisp) and the pace of each topic. What could be improved: Course is too old for something like AWS which changes rapidly. 2016 course for 2020 is just not right. There are lot many options included , even the GUI has changed a lot. Also, Inclusion of other developer tools apart from Beanstack, pipeline would have made it better.

Congrats Ali, this course was pretty useful! By the time you created this course, I think AWS didn't have CodeBuild, so I think it is an alternative to build/run Unit Tests commands! It is pretty simple and straightforward as well. Like this example: https://medium.com/quantica/setup-ci-cd-pipeline-with-aws-lambda-and-serverless-framework-f624773f355e Also, it would be nice if you have another tutorial using Node.js =) By the way, this course is very useful and congrats for the content shared. Thank you.

This course will do the job, but you will also need to do extra work to make things work out due to AWS constantly changing. Most of what is stated will work. Check the Q&A section often as many have either received help or others have added to the lessons to help others out in here. You will want to look up changes through docs.aws.amazon.com as well. If I had to reqrite this, I would have obstained from building out a whole php environment in cloud9 since the course should be more focussed on pipeline and deployment in my opinion, but it was ok and yet I wasted a lot of free trier resources here and with the side lambda example where you deploy a ton of content to s3 and then as its added into your pipeline and you make changes, that is eating up your s3 bucket usage. So in short - it was good because once you actually get to pipeline sections it was extremely helpful, but cloud9 can be replaced with github and the s3 example is neat but could have been limited to one or two SMALL css files to save on usage.

Excellent course but it needs an update to the content with the latest version of the AWS. If you have some knowledge of AWS then you can easily follow the course. In case you are newbie you can face hard time. Because the course is now few years old and the Interface of AWS dashboard have changed. The course fulfilled my requirements though as I wanted to jump into CI/CD quickly using AWS.

The overall course is good but for people who are not familiar with all the tools/utilities used in this course ( such as Phinx, Composer, Cloud9) don't get the big picture in terms how these pieces fit together. The course needs to be updated for AWS cloud9. The instructor should spend some time explaining all the files in the fuzzy-telegram project and how composer or phinx tools are used to orchestrate the installation and deployment.

This course is awesome. The only real tricky part (no fault of the instructor) is I had to sign into aws-cloud9 instead of the regular cloud9. However, that proved to be a good experience for me as it forced me to dig even deeper into it to understand how aws-cloud9 worked. The instructor covers a wide variety of topics from Beanstalk to CodePipeline to cloud9 to Lambda. Even covers the awesome "manual approval"-process in pipeline. I learned quite a bit and I thank him. You will learn quite a bit too if you take this course. Highly recommended

This is an awesome course and you can learn many things than your expectation. I really enjoyed learning with this course. If you got any issue while practicing the contents, I suggest you to keep patience and clear the errors you will feel awesome. Some videos are outdated, but that's not a big problem. It's a great course to learn AWS code pipeline and you can see the Lambda functionalities in work.

Well prepared course, you can tell it has a lot of dedication. It's only introductory, only scratches the surface of every aspect of AWS automation. I think it should have the "introduction" word in its title. I made a question, did not get answered, despite the fact that the author encourages to make questions. Audio track gets cut off in the majority of movies. Too much unnecessary animations (i.e.: letters do not need to be animated all the time, to much visual effects makes one loose the focus)

Excellent course. Comprehensive, well written and presented. My only minor point is that the source code as downloaded from within the course and from GitHub is complete i.e. all ebextenstions and migration scripts. Whilst this has some advantages is terms of convenience it does deprive the student of the opportunity to practice adding to the code base as the course progresses. Can I suggest a separate branch or a tagged release with the incomplete initial starting code. I know that one could revert to an earlier version in the history but why not make the this a feature and offer both choices.

Great course! The build-up sequence of the course is excellent - starting with creation of a sample PHP app and then gradually explaining the CI/CD concepts one after another using comprehensible yet simple labs. The pace of the course is very appropriate. The instructor maintained consistent enthusiasm across the course. A really well developed content. Hats off to Ali.
