Course Description

This course covers the advanced content required for the Microsoft DP-800 "Developing AI-Enabled Database Solutions" certification exam, updated with minor changes as of 19 October 2026.


What will you learn in this course?

  • We'll create an Azure SQL Database with sample data, as well as a Fabric SQL Database and install SSMS and Visual Studio Code.

  • We'll create T-SQL statements, including database objects, programmability objects, and basic and advanced T-SQL code.

  • We’ll then add GitHub and Microsoft Copilot, Implement data security and compliance, and Optimize database performance.

  • We’ll then create SQL Database Projects to implement schema changes, and add source control using GitHub. We’ll also integrate SQL solutions with Azure services.

  • Finally, we'll look at how to implement AI capabilities in database solutions. We’ll design and implement models, embeddings and intelligent search using vectors and full-text indexing, and design and implement retrieval-augmented generation.


Once you have completed the course, you will have a good knowledge of developing AI-enabled Database Solutions using Azure SQL Database. And with some practice and knowledge of some additional topics, you could even go for the official Microsoft certification DP-800 - wouldn't the "Microsoft Certified: SQL AI Developer Associate" certification look good on your CV or resume?

I loved the course, it was a little fast but, as Philip suggested, I will practice what I learned. I didn’t evaluate as 5 because only in the first modules we had some fast evaluations, I would have appreciated more in further modules.

Overall best instructor for Microsoft SQL and other Microsoft products (eg. Power BI, Fabric) and their related certifications. The DP-800 exam is broad and this course covers each point practically with live examples you can follow along with after you follow the setup needed to do so (which is also covered in the course).

Great that this course was available early for the new DP-800 exam. Addition of end-of-section quizzes and practice test(s) would be helpful. Maybe those are a work in progress as Phillip's courses usually include them. Coverage for the exam is good but for the omission of Azure AI Search, which definitely comes up in the DP-800 exam.

I found the course good for understanding. I missing more practical exercises, which I could make more praxis for me. Theoretical it is very clear. I tried also to make the stuff running on my own account and in most of the cases it runs. Thank you very much.
