Content and Overview

I designed this course from an email related Web UI automation project.

Starting from business requirements requested by QA Manager, I show you how to design the test framework and integrate state-of-the-art tools together to achieve the business requirements. I will walk you through the setup of these tools step by step.

Then as a QA Engineer, I will first manual test the test scenarios and write down the test steps. I will work with you together to turn these manual test steps into automated steps. Along the way, you will encounter challenges and solve them.

In addition to the original course, I added some lectures according to students' feedback, such test Android Native APK test and iOS Native APP test.

You will find this course very effective and helpful.

What am I going to get from this course?

  • Learn how to design and build up test framework from scratch
  • Know how to use the essential tools used by professional QA Engineer
  • Over 25 lectures
  • Source Code included

The instructor is good, but the course is two years old and the applications he uses no longer have the same interface as presented in his videos - particularly on the Android side. Otherwise, it's a good course I would recommend.

It's very hard for a person who is not that familiar with UNIX and Selenium to understand certain parts of the tutorial. Lecturer is not clear about Selenium methods, what are they doing and whats their purpose etc. Also if youre showing step by step installation make sure to uninstall the setup from your machine first and then show how to install it. Had to spend to much time on small details that should have been explained in the video.

This course gives a good first hands-on look into Appium being brief enough to go through quickly, yet has enough content to cover the base knowledge that is needed to work with Appium on automating your Android and iOS testing. There could be more examples and author could go more in depth, but this would be perhaps a topic for a follow-up course.

Make it more clear on how to set the maven (M2_HOME and adding it to the PATH) variables to .bash_profile and how to save this .bash_profile. So that everytime you start a new terminal you can check your mvn -version. I'm new on a mac so it took some time for me to figure out. Cheers,

I have tried mobile automation before, but always got stuck. With this course, I got everything running finally! Thank you Ken!

He moves very fast and takes things for granted that we know already though this is supposed to be for beginners...I was not very familiar with using the Terminal on Mac so the process for installing Maven was very time-consuming having to go back, repeat, type lines of code by pausing the video. I ended up viewing a very good you tube video to fill in the blanks.

I would have liked to see some real time examples. Closed Captioning would have been very helpful as well. I would also have liked to see more app testing scenarios such as something that utilizes a camera click.

START HERE FOR APPIUM There are a quite a few resources available to learn Appium. The problem for me is that most of them use Eclipse, while I prefer IntelliJ. All these great resources were of no use to me because even after many hours and multiple attempts I could not get Appium, IntelliJ, Maven (or Gradle), and Selenium all working together. I was hopelessly stuck. With this course I was FINALLY able to get a script to run in Appium...not only in the browser, but even in an app! And Ken made it easy. Now the door to Appium is open and I can start using all those other resources out there. One very minor complaint is that Ken uses Maven, while the trend seems to be towards using Gradle. But the important thing is that I am finally up and running with Appium, which is a skill that is essential to me as a mobile app tester.

It covers every step on the Appium life cycle. Very nice for beginners and good for experts to have an structured view of the topics

The content of the course is upto the mark and the support provided by Ken is really commendable. Just a request to Ken to add few more lectures to make this course much beneficial :)
