Our take

Based on the ratings of 5,554 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

Robert Barcik's course is a business-side tour of how software-as-a-service companies work. It runs 9.5 hours over 97 lectures and eight sections: what SaaS is, designing and building products, pricing, trial models, marketing and sales, and metrics. The syllabus shows no programming. It is aimed at graduates heading for SaaS jobs, career changers, marketers and founders who want the vocabulary and the whole picture before digging into one area. About 20,800 students have enrolled.

Most of the 5,554 reviews are positive, and roughly 85 percent are four or five stars. Reviewers like how clearly Barcik explains things, the real-world examples, the quiz in each section and the material on MRR, LTV and churn. One says he explains concepts in just the right amount, not too vague and not too easy. The complaints are consistent. Some find the early modules generic, a few struggle with his accent, and others want practice, since it is all slides and lecture.

The content was last updated in September 2026. The marketing and sales section is the biggest chunk, with 41 lectures, while pricing and trials are short and quick to get through. For beginners and career changers, it is a solid, low-pressure foundation. People already working in SaaS will probably find the first sections too basic and should jump to the later modules.

Best forNewcomers to SaaS from marketing, business or tech who want pricing, trials and churn metrics in one place.
Skip it ifYou already work in SaaS, or want hands-on exercises, templates or code instead of slides and quizzes.

Pros

  • Clear explanations that reviewers say are neither too vague nor too easy
  • Covers the full lifecycle: idea validation, building, pricing, trials, marketing, metrics
  • Metrics section on MRR, LTV and churn gets specific praise from reviewers
  • Quizzes in each section and real-world cases reinforce the lectures

Cons

  • All lecture and slides, with no projects, templates or hands-on practice
  • Early modules feel generic to anyone who already knows what SaaS is
  • A few reviewers find the instructor's accent hard to follow
Having no previous background in Business or SaaS, this course gave me a really nice overview of the development and building processes, tools and characteristics of this type of business and metrics to measure success.

This is a very solid and well-structured introduction to the SaaS business world, especially for people coming from technical, marketing, or general business backgrounds who want to understand how SaaS companies actually work end to end. The course does a great job covering the full lifecycle: from idea validation and product development to pricing models, trials, marketing, and—importantly—metrics like MRR, LTV, and churn. I also appreciated the use of real-world cases and the focus on practical decision-making rather than just theory. The course is clearly foundational and business-oriented, so experienced SaaS operators or founders may find the early sections familiar or a bit high-level. Still, as a structured, comprehensive overview that builds the right mental model and vocabulary for working in or building a SaaS business, it’s very useful and easy to recommend—especially for newcomers or people transitioning into the SaaS space.
