Cons

    • Clear, patient explanation of all covered concepts. Absolutely no computer background is necessary to get through this series.
    • Thorough walkthroughs make it easy for you to open your own spreadsheet and follow along.
    • High, positive energy makes an otherwise dry topic compelling and interesting.
    • This is more than just a handful of tips to help with Excel. It is a comprehensive tutorial in the features, functions and applications of the software.
    • As with any YouTube tutorial series, there is no direct interaction with the instructor.
    • 12 hours is a lot of time to spend going through Excel. Course can feel long.
    • Despite the deep dive, lessons do not cover background knowledge necessary to fully utilize some of the explained features (e.g. Lessons on statistical tools do not fully teach how the statistics work).

The guy might sound quirky to some, but I think he just tries to make it exciting. On purely content basis, his videos are really good. A good resource for beginners and intermediate users alike. One of the excel resources I recommend to everyone.

Big thumbs up to Mike Girvin and his Excel Is Fun channel! I've been using Excel for close to 20 years and I still reference his videos when I need to learn something new or refresh an old skill.I'm doing some training classes at my company and the one thing I suggest as the quickest way to get better faster is to watch his Excel Basics: Learn to Efficiently Use Excel at Work and to Get a Job. This will teach you just about all you need for most business scenarios and it's only 25 videos. Learn one a day and your a hero in a month.Mike is an excellent teacher and in addition to demonstrating the Excel functions he constantly reinforces a myriad of best practices, like keyboard shortcuts, to streamline your work.

This is an amazing tutorial! I've fine tuned my excel skills with this video especially with printing!

For the first 20 seconds or so I thought wow! patronising!! but after that I realised I was so wrong! His delivery is actually amazing. He stresses all the important points in such a way that it is so easy to follow and remember. His repetition then hammers the point home and his final summary just ties it all together. On any teaching or presentation course you are taught the following adage; " Tell them what you are going to tell them, Tell them, Tell them what you just told them" That is exactly what he does. He also teaches us the easy way to do things in real life not like a handbook or instruction manual but as a real person would do it.

The great thing about this videos is how simple and well constructed they are, and they are not boring at all. Kudos from Mexico for this amazing tutorial.
