Course Description
Plastics and polymers have broad range of applications across several industries, from the automotive, electronics, dentistry, sports, fashion, biomedical, building, energy industry and much more. So whether you are starting a plastics processing business, a student seeking additional learning aid, you work within the polymer industry or make use of polymers and seek to sharpen your knowledge of polymers or perhaps an individual wanting to know more about the plastics and other polymers; how they are made and how they are used in various products. This course serves as your ideal entry point into the plastics and polymer industry. Learn how polymers are converted to finished products such as pipes, water bottles, shopping bags, kayaks, phone screen protectors etc. In this course you will learn about processes such as blow molding, injection molding, 3D printing and many others. You will also learn the tests carried out on polymers to determine their quality. The course starts off with some fundamental polymer chemistry which helps you know your polyethylenetherephthalate from your polymethylmethacrylate. There are over 2.5 Hours of video lectures with lots of graphics to make the learning process easy and enjoyable. The course also includes some exercises to test your progress. If you have further questions at any point during or after the course feel free to send a message to the instructor.

Thank You , it was very informative . Could have been better if have talked more on polymer molding technique like blow molding , injection molding , rotational molding . Should have additional information on how the resin or granules are made from crude oil. Different types of resin grades and which resin grade is used for which usage / Grade used for making plastic bottles . grade used for making preform. grade used making polymer films . PP , PVC , PPE

My main issue with the course is that it felt too amateur for the price. The presentation slides were quite simplistic and modules were sometimes in the wrong order. The instructor spoke as if she only went through the presentation once and didn't have any notes to guide the presentation. Overall a good introduction to polymers and plastics, felt a little heavy on chemistry as someone without any chemistry background.

The instructor was informative and covered multiple areas of plastics and polymers that I was not familiar with. The course was intellectually challenging for me and my subject knowledge level improved during the course.

This course really me a lot in understanding this course. The instructor explains clearly the concept and application of polymers. It is beneficial for those who want a basic understanding of polymer. Thank you for sharing this course with us.

My thesis is cross-disciplinary and polymers and plastics is important part of it. This course helps me to cover a lot base information about polymers. Thanks to professor.

A good cource for beginners in polymers/polymer processing. However, would be very good if all the parts would be in the order they should be, compression molding is not given in the polymer processing methods but used in answers to the questions and it woul be good to attach pictures for polymer processing methods.

A good introduction to polymers, including how they are classified, used, and manufactured, and some introductory theory on how to predict properties based on the chemical formula and structure. I think you would get more out of this course if you have taken a few introductory post-secondary chemistry courses

Well I really like the lectures and the clearness from the teacher but I was totally lost when it came to the test because I didn't know how to get the questions and how to take the test. I wish we didn't have to down load just to take the test. I wish it was like other classes that I have taken where it was just a question and the answer was at multiple choice of four answers.

The course is really good. All the basics of the Plastics and polymers have covered. I would like to suggest something. In processing, some more examples can be shown and explained in detail for better understanding. One more chapter can be included related to plastics like PET, PP, PS, LDPE, HDPE, PVC etc. with the description of there properties like tg, tm, density, wvtr, tensile, tear, etc. and their applications. Thank you For This course.

Seems very good so far except that a few sections that I wanted to be expanded were skimmed over. (Different classifications eg. based on thermal behaviour or polymerisation mechanisms). Sometimes assignments or practices are mentioned on the slides but they don't exist in the section. So I think they need to be updated accordingly.
