Course Description

This is a survey course, I do not go into specifics about HOW the work is created, rather we'll explore WHY the work is good, the thinking that went into it, and any other anecdotes I may have about each field.

I cover nine graphic design specialties. They are: logos, packaging, posters, book covers, motion graphics, websites, annual reports, environmental graphics, and editorial design.

Enjoy!

Very entertaining and to the point. Would love it even more if it was possible to go more in depth or a follow along tutorial to give us an idea of how the design process might go.

O curso explica itens aplicáveis em diversas frentes do UI, porem poderia ser exploratório com exemplos e sugestão de ferramentas.

Clear, concise, gets straight to the point, wonderful examples in the resources section (though some links or brands are outdated by this year; some got shut down or others have newer content to overwrite previous examples). Overall a great introduction and eyeopener for the graphic design initiate.

This course is very good. I think it is a great teaser not only because of the content it presents, but also how it presents such content, as the information is given in a very light and enjoyable way. I'd love for the professor to add a little bit more meat to the course or create more courses because the lessons really spoke my curiosity.

Good, imformative content. Only downside is i'm put off by watching the author's face 50% of the time. It's uncomfortable staring at someone talk whilst waiting for the visuals. I'd suggest the narrations typed on a page instead or some other visual instead of a head shot.

I like the example choices and I think the course does a great job illustrating why a design is considered 'good' and it also gives a few ideas as to how to improve your own design. I also liked that extra resources were provided at the end. I think I would like to see a course on making designs too!

So far so good. It's a good reminder of graphic design principles (overview) and the stream of examples is inspiring and shows how we keep generating great ideas despite there being a thousand great ideas already out there. I like the "attention rule" piece best and will refer to this.

The instructor did an excellent job of providing an overview of the main categories of graphic design. I found the course to be a good introduction to the field. In addition, I like the fact the instructor provides additional resources, so I can continue to learn. This is a great course!

This is extremely helpful information. I love how the instructor breaks down the basics of graphic design based on the types of media and projects. The examples are helpful in showing the art and what does and does not work. I also find the links to other resources helpful. I feel as though I am learning so much in such a short amount of time.

2016 original review: This course is a really good at throwing you into graphic design whether you're just starting or getting back into it (like me), but beware of some of the visuals shown. The presentation works best when sped up as much as possible. Thanks for the course! Also, I looked at your blog and it's great so far! 2019 UPDATE: I took the quiz on design that he mentions in the new first video, and this was quite helpful in helping me realize what area of design to focus on.
