I found it to be a very educational and informative course. Yes, it was a good match for me. I gave it 3 1/2 stars because I took the course and never received the certificate as promised. I've asked and asked for the certificate. Still, they have failed to provide a completed certificate. Updated: I finally received the certificate so I've updated the rating to 5 stars.

I felt like this was more of a training for non-helping professionals trying to help their loved ones or friends who recently lost someone instead of practicing clinicians. I say this because it heavily focuses on counseling theories, including the psychodynamic approach, humanism, and behavioral. I felt like most of the training wasted a lot of time in this area as opposed to going straight into grief and loss. It was a good review; however, as clinicians, we should know these theories already, so I was disappointed I did not learn more about grief and loss. The training also distinguished what depression was vs. regular sadness, the types of depression, and how to diagnose it in the DSM-5. Again, it felt like a lot of reviews to me, but I can imagine that someone who did not have proper training in psychopathology would benefit from it. What I liked about this training is how they explained the difference between bereavement and grief, as grief is a reaction to any form of loss, and bereavement is the process of recovering from the death of a loved one. The training also focused on breakups and how those individuals are experiencing grief because of that loss. I thought that was interesting because I never thought of other types of losses other than death. I found CBT worked best for these cases with a combination of client-centered counseling. It also went through the stages of grief that I already knew. However, another thing I learned was the five personalities by Susan Berger after death being the nomads, memorialists, normalizers, activists, and seekers. These represent different ways of creating meaning from the loss of a loved one to redefine a life purpose, a reason to continue growing spiritually and emotionally, and to find meaning in this life. The training would have been more beneficial at the beginning of the starting your career in therapy, but should be marketed more under "Review". At the end of the day, the best thing we can do as clinicians is provide a space to listen, validate, and provide empathy. Everyone grieves at a different rate, so we must be gentle to help support them as time goes by.

The instructor spoke clearly; provided examples; covered many areas of counseling; theories, techniques; how to set up for successful sessions and SO MUCH MORE! I feel I am confident in helping clients thru the grieving process and setting goals so the clients can deal with death and moving on process to enjoy fulfilling lives! Thank you so much for providing this extremely informative course!

An excellent course. I can see that a person needs a background in counseling in order to follow along. The course follows or completes the objectives presented. I appreciate the breakdown in the lessons. Some courses have lessons close to an hour in length, and that generates complications, makes them difficult to follow along. Again, not the case here. I would not have a problem with recommending this course.

I've learnt a lot. It helped me to understand how to help others when they are going through grief. It also helped me, especially since I have been going through a break up and the process of divorce. I can therefore use the strategies I've learnt on myself.

This was a great introduction course to bereavement counselling and the types of approaches that can be used to others/clients. The instructor goes into detail about depression, the types of depression and the available treatments. I would recommend this course for those who are pursuing a course in counselling related to grief and death or even to enhance their knowledge about the topics of grief and bereavement.

Just what I was looking for! Detailed, short and sweet. As a blogger who covers topics of bereavement and grief after pet loss, I wanted to grow and expand my knowledge. This short course was great. I can add to my list of goals completed this year. :)

As an educator, this course is essential since you need to have empathy and understand that grief is a part of life and will occur with the students I teach.
