How to Become a Transcriptionist (Udemy.com)

This course was highly recommended and I see why. Mrs. Flint has course materials organized and professional. I have learned much information that I didn't know prior. I love that spreadsheets and helpful tips and hints are supplied. I gave it 4 stars because Mrs. Flint is not accessible to answer questions. Questions important to a student may NOT be in the Q & A section of the course, and knowing the instructor will respond is important. A month went by and still no response to my question. Maybe instructors should have an alert system to notify them that questions are being asked.

Great content and information about the actual process of transcription work, creating a resume and gaining experience etc. However, the practice audio files could be improved to perhaps have different accents and different speaking styles. A lot of the sentences started with the word "And". Although the reason for this was explained in the lesson, it does get confusing for native speakers who are usually taught not to start sentences with this word. The answers to the audio file are a little subjective. It would have been nice to have actual files that have been transcribed by a company for real clients( of course while respecting confidentiality agreements) so that we can compare a final piece of work handed in to a company instead of several pieces of spoken text with just the one voice and style of speaking. Other than that though, it was a very informative course. Thank you

I enjoyed it very much. It gave me a general knowledge for general transcriptionist. My goal is to become an ACT transcriptionist and I am enrolling in the ACT course in January but your course gave me the general knowledge I require to work as an Audio Visual Transcriptionist until January. I did have some technical difficulty downloading Section 8 but other than that I enjoyed the course very much. I gave you 4-1/2 stars as I would have liked to have had a little information about time stamping. I also would have liked to have maybe learned a bit more about different templates that are used by companies. The transcripts that you used for examples were more like stories. I assume that clients use more like 9-1-1- calls, interviews, court documents, medical or legal documents, etc.. I would have liked to have seen more of those transcripts/templates used for examples. But other than that I enjoyed the course and Thank you.

This is a very informative class, giving all the info needed to become a transcriptionist. Ms. Chelsea broke down every aspect of the transcription business, from software needed to succeed, to the business' basic tax info, to transcription companies. Her practice files were hard for a beginner, but let the beginner know, realistically, what would be expected from the files coming from transcription companies. Her tone was analytical, which allows the student to decide, for themselves, if this is the business they really want to start. Whether its Udemy's or the teacher's fault, the Resource files in the last half of the course have become corrupted and you will have to rename them to get them to open properly. But, yes, take this course if you are thinking about going into this business.
