Course Description

You’re about to learn an easier, faster curriculum design that’s clearer to learn and more enjoyable to teach, one that ensures your end users get it right the first time.

Finally, You’ll Have A Step-By-Step Plan For Turning Curriculum Into…

 ENGAGEMENT, LEARNING AND RETENTION

(Hint: It looks something like this…)

Part 1: Curriculum Structural Design (YOU ARE HERE)

•Identify with your audience

• Identify what they do

•Organize what they do

•Determine what to teach

•Organize what to teach

•Determine the initial class structure

Part 2: Curriculum Teaching Design

•Determine why they want it

•Research teaching strategies

•Research teaching tools

•Select teaching strategies & tools

•Make it real to them

•Proof the specific class structure

Part 3: Curriculum Production

•Create facilitator guides

•Create in-class activities and assessments

•Create learner workbooks and handouts

•Create a slideshow

•Create evaluation surveys

•Create marketing materials

Ordinary instructional designers just don’t get it….

There was a time when having expertise was enough, but today (if you actually want to get engagement, learning and retention), you need to do more.

So how do you do it?

How do you build “curriculum” that turns instructional design into engagement, learning and retention?

Fortunately, that’s what you’re about to learn.

FACT: Businesses Need Instructional Designers

(…Who Actually Know What They’re Doing)

I’m not going to sell you on the importance of instructional design.

If you’re here, you already know it’s an essential aspect of any training strategy, because instructional design:

  • Increases ROI and efficiency…

  • Engages and nurtures both employees and trainers by providing ACTUAL results, and most importantly it…

  • Enables your training to be engaging (and stick consistently!)

In other words, instructional design increases ROI and efficiency and lowers employee turnover: The lifeblood of any business.

So that’s why businesses need instructional designers.

There’s just one problem: Most so called “instructional designers” don’t know what they’re doing.

That’s where you come in.

As an Instructional Design Specialist, you are uniquely qualified to help business convert training into engagement, learning and retention.

In other words, we aren’t “researchers” sharing “theoretical fluff”. I'm only part of the way through, but once again I am learning so much! I have taken several other RTR classes on Udemy and once again I see there is so much more to learn. So many immediate takeaways- I will be emailing people soon! I love how this emphasizes the need to understand your learners. Looking forward to taking part 2 and 3. People underestimate the work of trainers but it is really a complex art!

I have done previous courses from Jason Teteak on train the trainer and other such courses. I find his explanation style really engaging and very simple to understand and assimilate. Looking forward to seeing this course through within this week. So far, loving the methodologies and workbook tasks regarding how to go about designing training content. Love the way the audience is engaged and heard out while going about the exercises.

I've been product training (mostly self-taught) for 20+ years and knew there had to be a "better way" to do this stuff. I sat through several "other" Curriculum design courses on here - but none felt like the "real deal"; either very reductive or frankly could have been cobbled together in an afternoon with ChatGPT. By contrast - this course approaches training as one continuous thought elaborated over a 6+hour session. Reviewing the material a second time led to several "ah-ha!" moments - on a subjects I though I knew backwards. The training itself - is superb -and shows many concepts in action. There are many, MANY things big and small I took away from this - not least of all how to add up in Base-8!

I really enjoyed the first three sections...I learned a number of helpful concepts and I appreciated the practical tools provided. However, Sections 4-7 felt unnecessarily long given how little content there was. In these sections, a lot of time is spent watching Jason facilitate activities with a group of curriculum designers responsible for training healthcare providers on a software system. The problem for me (as someone not designing healthcare software trainings) was that watching Jason facilitate these activities with them provided very little value add. Given the content in these sections was extremely straightforward/basic, I didn't need him to walk through it all step-by-step for me to understand...2-3 minutes spent reading the accompanying workbook was sufficient. I was hoping, though, that he would use that facilitation time to provide more depth/nuance on the topics. For example, talking about some of the common logistical or organizational challenges that may arise in practice, sharing important considerations when applying the content to different use cases, or addressing insightful questions he's gotten from attendees in previous trainings. Instead, he mostly just reiterated the points and examples in the workbook (often word-for-word) or provided commentary very specific to the curriculum designers in the room.

yes good match because i retired as a trainer from pharma.

Sorry to say this but you could basically teach the whole course in half an hour. Being "in the same room" with the other students was more confusing than anything else. I couldn't understand what they were saying and the topic was far off anything I would teach.
The most useful insight was seeing your Exel spread sheet showing the structure for this course.. I feel the rest was more or less a waste of my time.

Interactive and activity based.

By Sharat Nanjappa on 11/22/2020

Good content but I wish the presentation was better. Also, reading out of the book on camera drops engagement.

By Sulochana Hatwar on 11/17/2020

good course

By Pedram Parasmand on 11/15/2020

Good back to basics and helps with the process of designing learning. Feels a bit outdated
