Course Description

Machine Learning is the future one of the top tech fields to be in right now!

ML and AI will change our lives in the same way electricity did 100 years ago. ML is widely adopted in Finance, banking, healthcare, transportation, and technology.

The field is exploding with opportunities and career prospects.

This introductory course is for absolute beginners, students will learn:

  1. Key AWS services such as Simple Storage Service (S3), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Identity and Access Management (IAM) and CloudWatch,

  2. The benefits of cloud computing and what’s included in the AWS Free Tier Package

  3. How to setup a brand-new account in AWS and navigate through the AWS Management Console

  4. The fundamentals of Machine Learning and understand the difference between Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science (DS) and Deep Learning (DL)

  5. List the key components to build any machine learning models including data, model, and compute

  6. Learn the fundamentals of Amazon SageMaker, SageMaker Components, training options offered by SageMaker including built-in algorithms, AWS Marketplace, and customized ML algorithms

  7. Cover AWS SageMaker Studio and learn the difference between AWS SageMaker JumpStart, SageMaker Autopilot and SageMaker Data Wrangler

  8. Learn how to write our first code in the cloud using Jupyter Notebooks.

  9. We will then have a tutorial covering AWS Marketplace object detection algorithms such as Yolo V3

  10. Learn how to train our first machine learning model using the brand-new AWS SageMaker Canvas without writing any code!

Instructor Details

Prof. Ryan Ahmed, PhD, MBA

I'm Dr. Ryan Ahmed, professor, engineer, and founder of Stemplicity, where we help people get past the hype and actually build things with AI, Agentic AI, Cloud, and Data Science.

Over the past 10 years, I've taught 1 million learners across 160 countries — 700,000+ enrolled in my Udemy courses, 260,000+ subscribers on the "Prof. Ryan Ahmed" YouTube channel, and 120,000+ on Coursera. I also run corporate AI training for teams at HSBC, RBC, Discover, and Barclays across the US, Canada, and the UK. I held leadership roles at GM, Samsung, and Stellantis in Canada and the U.S., working on electric and autonomous vehicle technologies.

I hold a MASc, PhD, and MBA from McMaster University. I’m also a licensed Professional Engineer and a Stanford-certified program manager with over 60+ published research papers in AI and battery systems.

But credentials are the least interesting part. Here's what I actually believe: "AI is the biggest opportunity of our lifetime", and most people are sitting it out because they think they need to code or have a PhD. You don't. If you're willing to show up and try, I'll help you get good at this.

Good with simple demo explanations. Could be explained with some other simple but real-world machine learning model, instead of a toy like temperature predictor model.

By Robert Solorzano on 10/6/2025

Great Content. Could use to update some of the videos. When following through in my current AWS console, there is no longer options in the Market Place to "try". You must subscribe to try the models. Be good to show a process to subscribe and then clear out the subscription for training purposes.

Excellent quick overview of SageMaker for a beginner. A lot of the basics is covered in a short space of time. For more advanced use and a good understanding of machine learning you would need further training though.

By David R Bosley on 4/5/2023

Beginning of each lesson basically covers the entire last lesson, material was covered over and over without adding anything new. Only at the very end was there a practical demonstration, and then it was simply repeated in the next lesson for no reason I can think of.
