Craig Harper, PhD

I am a social psychologist working, teaching, and researching in the UK. I hold an undergraduate degree in psychology (with a specialism in clinical psychology), a masters degree in forensic psychology, and a PhD in social psychology. I have published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, and have received invitations to deliver research talks at several conferences in the UK and North America.

My research is typically focused on the psychological mechanisms that lead people to make the decisions that they do about controversial social and political issues. Much of my work has been based around forensic topics - specifically public responses to sexual offending and the individuals who commit these crimes.

I am passionate about teaching and strive to present evidence in a balanced way in order to promote critical evaluation and reflection in my students. I am a member of the Heterodox Academy - a transatlantic organisation that strives to promote viewpoint diversity in higher education.

I love how brief and quick it was. It gave me the brief intro i needed to see if criminal psychology is my thing, which it definitely is, but also gave me a nice brief outlook on new points and fruits to think about. The course was in simple English, with plenty of explanations and short quizzes to ensure that information is retained. Thank you

Yes, understanding the relationship between the onset of crime, and the factors that lead up to this becoming a normal pattern of behavior, have me looking at our family structures, social policy on equity and how we may be able to implement change from an earlier age, by looking more closely at the known variables, risk, promotive, and protective factors.

It wasn't what I expected, it was good to learn that there is psychological evidence to support many of the reasons for the crimes one has not only witnessed but also been a victim of. I hope to use the information gained in an effort to help those caught in the economical inequality trap - one knows that appealing to the 'haves' to not flash what they have is an unlikely solution (they are proud of their winnings as many of them, who have not obtained it in blue or white collar crimes, should rightfully be) just as appealing to the "have-nots" to not take advantage of the other classes egotistic displays is not a solution either it appears to be more of a competition or game between them and perhaps it is in another course or one may consider adding it to this one - is the psychology behind the blue and white collar crimes as well. It is understandable why the impoverished succumb but what about those without oblivious psychological stimuli? Thank you - I enjoyed what was presented -
