Course Description

This course, developed by Patricia M. Hart, Ph.
D., in partnership with Educational Video Publishing, draws upon beautifully filmed scenes of children in Montessori classrooms, engaged in all five areas of the Montessori curriculum; including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural. Dr. Hart taught early childhood Montessori for nine years at Gloria Dei Montessori School in Dayton, OH prior to becoming a faculty member at the University of Dayton's School of Education. Educational Video Publishing has been producing Montessori videos since 1994, including co-producing six DVDs with the American Montessori Society. Each curriculum area includes a separate lecture based on interviews with Anna Perry, the Executive Director of the Seton Montessori Institute in Chicago.

My name is Dr. Patricia Hart, and I am the instructor for the course. I am a Professor Emeritawith 45 years experiencein Education. I have taught children's literature courses in higher educationfor many years, and have an early childhood Montessori Certification. My passion throughout my personal and professional life has been booksand children. My husband is an educational video producer, and partners with me in the production and marketing of my courses. I loved this course! I was an assistant teacher in a Montessori classroom for a few years. I have been considering going to get fully certified as a Montessori educator but I wanted to take a few courses here to make sure I was still very interested.
