Course Description

This course, developed by Patricia M. Hart, Ph.D., in partnership with Educational Video Publishing, draws upon beautifully filmed scenes of children in Montessori classrooms, engaged in all five areas of the Montessori curriculum; including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural.  Dr. Hart taught early childhood Montessori for nine years at Gloria Dei Montessori School in Dayton, OH prior to becoming a faculty member at the University of Dayton's School of Education.  Educational Video Publishing has been producing Montessori videos since 1994, including co-producing six DVDs with the American Montessori Society.  Each curriculum area includes a separate lecture based on interviews with Anna Perry, the Executive Director of the Seton Montessori Institute in Chicago.

My name is Dr. Patricia Hart, and I am the instructor for the course.  I am a Professor Emerita with 45 years experience in Education.  I have taught children's literature courses in higher education for many years, and have an early childhood Montessori Certification.  My passion throughout my personal and professional life has been books and children.   My husband is an educational video producer, and partners with me in the production and marketing of my courses. Using observations and videos of my three young grandchildren - and other children -  I continue to gain more insights into effective strategies to use in reading quality literature to young children, while utilizing the library resources.

The most helpful aspect of the course was the explanation of the way the curriculum helps the child develop certain concepts and skills. The main emphasis was on the curriculum so if you want to know that, sign up for this course. I would love to see a detailed version of each and every material used in Montessori education and the way a child can tweak it, play it and use it to understand a concept.

I really like the course. I learn all the new concepts with multiple examples. The course was precised and explained in simple words with daily use examples. I will definately recommend this course to my fellows.

i thought this course will teach me more about montessori method or practical applications so i could easily apply them , its like general knowledge about montessori , definitely i have seen better content and vedios more of practice side.
