Introduction To Fiber Optic Cabling (Udemy.com)

I think this course does well at introducing some basic concepts and information about fiber. The only thing I would consider adding is the differences between OM1-OM5 and maybe types of connectors (but that may be for a more advanced class).

My personal experience taking this course was very informative and interesting. The course helped me understand the fundamentals of fiber optic communication and the importance of fiber optic cabling in modern communication systems. I gained knowledge about optical fibers, connectors, splicing techniques, transmission of light signals, and different types of losses in optical communication.

The presenter did make one error. He mentioned that Copper DataCable was good up to 300meters when in actuality, it is good to 100meters. Other than that, I found that the information was accurate and presented very well.

Good introduction, wished there was a bit more about multi-mode and why would one use it. Also, a bit more about the wavelengths, why the different ones are used and when. Finally, more on the receiver and transmitter explanation would be helpful to show how it works.

The instructor covers the basics of fiber optics and does a good job keeping the videos no longer than necessary. A potential drawback is that he essentially uses the slides as a script then expounds on that content with a couple of extra details.

Decent overview. I wish the instructor would have not used incorrect/stretched aspect ratios for demonstration slides and there was defintely some misinformation about the light wavelengths; he suggested a longer wavelength light beam could use thinner fiber, but he was confusing wavelength with amplitude, and justifying it using the image he had created or borrowed for the presentation. Otherwise, yeah, about what I expected. I enjoyed it and learned a little abou fiber. Thanks!
