Intuitive Curriculum Development Course Reviews:

"I figured Jason Teteak might have a few new tricks—but not much that I hadn't heard before. I was wrong. Jason integrates the latest research on presenting, learning, and audience dynamics with a captivating style that plays with the ironic fact that he is doing presentations… about presentation skills. And therein lies the secret to this marvelous program."

  - Philip Deloria - Professor and Associate Dean, University of Michigan

"It's pretty simple. Jason Teteak walks the talk. In this day and age, finding a true thought leader amongst many is the key to getting to new levels. Listening to Jason and benefitting from his teachings will take you to that new level you seek. He is cutting edge, extremely practical and connects in a way that is motivating, informing and memorable. Some of the biggest benefits received from Jason are tactics, ideas and methods that are immediately implementable. Watch Jason's program before your competition does."

  - Al Lautenslager - Best-selling Author, Guerrilla Marketing in 30 Days

"I think this program is something you're going to want to look into. I've been blown away by it…Rule the Room identifies some needs in Education that are being very much neglected by instructors who are very well intentioned, who desperately want their students to learn, but they just don't know what they're missing and I've been one of these instructors."

  - Paul Olson - University of Michigan TA

While I appreciate some of the content, i think using math as an example of teaching concepts isolates those who are not math "brained", it made it harder to comprehend than teaching an more abstract "how to make a PB sandwich". He was a good instructor but this was not the ideal way to explain to those taking the course.

As a new trainer (Ken Burgess) in a blown film extrusion (plastics) factory, I have been fumbling around trying to teach what I have learned here over the years as an operator on the production floor. Some people don't even have the fundamentals down, such as reading a tape measure, and basic math (including fractions and decimals. I have found myself learning more in order to explain things in different perspectives. One of the concepts that pulled me into this course was the desire to be a more effective teacher; to learn the formulas so that I can apply them to the areas I am trying to teach. I look forward to the rest of the course.

I couldn't have learned this anywhere else. His delivery is clear and despite being a filming of a live class, he managed (generally) to be easy to follow along. I had the PDF of the workbook open alongside the video. Only once in the course did he refer to the book without stating the page number, but he did state the activity title clearly so I could find the place easily. I aim to get there some day! That said, math education varies a lot across countries and I wonder if viewers in other countries might have an easier or harder time depending on what they had learned. I literally watched a segment with my mouth hanging open when he described adding to the base of 9 - it was an insight I wished MY primary school teacher had taught... If there is room for improvement it would be the application of this to a different field - I'm trying to apply it to the social sciences or philosophy, and the leap from columns and addition to Marx's exchange value theory is still quite a distance, especially when the concepts themselves are variously defined by different thinkers ... Thank you for these courses though, they are very valuable to me as a fledgling higher education lecturer and I look forward to continuing with the Foundations course.

Jason, Thank You for the Lightbulbs. It is very amazing to know something obvious but very hard to present. The basic concepts will be cleared when they are put the right way to the audience. Its Like Eating the Whole Pie One bit At a time, Properly chewing it till it becomes easy to swallow. Thank You

This course was awesome, content instruction and my core understanding of how to create a lesson plan based around tangible objectives hooks and of course the ultimate big/small lightbulbs concept. Examples of scenarios were great. I can definitely start utilising these tools to better myself as a teacher so my students not only comprehend what they have learnt but start to enjoy learning as the lessons will be short but sweet and hopefully filled with mystery...

Jason is amazing. He is the best teacher, trainer I have seen so far. I have gotten so may light bulb moment just watching his classes that it feels unreal. I am forever a believer. No matter what class he decides to teach I will sign up for it. I will even retake all my college calculus classes if he decides to teach them .

By Richard Brassaw on 3/10/2015

What is missing in many classrooms is getting students to acquire why things are done the way they are instead of simply how to do something. Without understanding the why students are at a disadvantage when moving to more difficult concepts. Jason certainly knows his stuff.

By Raj Karamchedu on 12/8/2014

Any which way you cut it, this course is excellent. The lightbulb concept, Jason's teaching of it, and how practical this course is. Coming out of these sessions I really carried an appreciation of how fragile the art of teaching is, and how important it is to get it right, because lives depend on it. A big thank you, Jason!

By Michael Stuart Kelly on 11/20/2014

The reason I took this course was to help me prepare my own instruction materials for courses I am creating (including a few for Udemy). I am self-taught in this, so I tend to get lost in too many details. I love Teteaks's lightbulbs concept for establishing hierarchy. In other words, the gaps in student understanding are just as important to organizing the information as the standard logical order. To extend the metaphor, a lightbulb concept is like the strength of signal between the transmitter (the instructor) and the receiver (the student), except it comes with "ah ha" moments for students as the lightbulbs go on their heads. The truth is, if the signal is weak (regardless of why), there is no light at the end--and it will not matter what the capacities of the transmitter and receiver are. I highly recommend this course if you like your students to learn something deeply for life, and especially if you like to make cool metaphors work.

By Sophie Ducrocq Archibald on 10/30/2014

I have to admit that it took me 3 days to get ready for 1.5 hours which included listening to the Lightbulbs training, studying the material, reworking all my concepts, writing all my potential Lightbulbs for that sessions, writing the lesson plan, writing the script, preparing the visual support, rehearsing the session. I'm not a teacher by trade. My professional training didn't include any teaching methodologies and pedagogy. My foundation and strength lay in the deep human connection, dancing in the moment where the person is and bringing them from point A to B through the human companionship. Preparing this way felt unnatural at first. I couldn't see the big picture of the steps for the Lightbulbs. I took me hours learning and writing as many leading questions as possible whether I was going to use them or not. I couldn't "feel" the concept of leading questions. There was a level of comprehension I noticed was too superficial on my part. I needed more exposure and experience with my content. Since I don't teach every day, I had to give myself the exposure myself, outside the classroom. I run clinical and non-therapeutic groups and as much as I have experience in this environment that is not at all the same as doing trainings. I believe I still need to work through more of my training content and insert it in the Lightbulb structure. What I see being different with what I do, from what you present is how experiential it is. I teach Mind-Body Bridging to a group. I need them to experience where they are in their neurological state, point out by leading them how it affects their mind and body and how it is manifested in behavior. I could have the best teaching methodology and fail miserably if I am not present with them. I could fail miserably if I am in the present moment with no pedagogical structure, which would result with the participants leaving "feeling" good and without having learned and understood the material. The material in that lecture (Intuitive Curriculum Development: Make It Easy To Understand) gave me a powerful vehicle to hand my content to my students. It was obvious last night that the baton was passed correctly. It has now taken a new life within them. It's now, theirs. I found profound your side comment in that training when you say you can now go home; say to your wife "my students got it". It's the passing of the light of knowledge, understanding that this is what we aim for as teachers and trainers. The word understanding embodies precisely what I hope to accomplish and what happened last night. The students left with a "standing" stance in relationship to the content. If they leave in any other position, I didn't reach my goal. Thank you for the tools you bring out. I have still much to learn in the arts of passing the torch of knowledge. I feel I am in the right direction. Warmly, Sophie
