Course Description

If you want to make digital art as a complete beginner, you've come to the right place!

I'm Duplo, an experienced artist and designer from Germany, and I've put this course together to help you make your first artworks.
Using the completely free software Krita, I will guide you through the beginning of your digital art journey.

I'll show you how to install and set up the program, how to navigate and customize the interface, how to use all the tools and functions, how you can draw and paint, what the best practices and most useful shortcuts are and how to get more brushes.

After that, we'll make an artwork together that covers all the basics of Krita. We will start with a simple sketch and define the composition, then block in colors, add textures and details in different styles and make final adjustments.
Along the way, I'll give you many tips and insights what I think while making the artwork.

In the last section of this course, I'll give you some general art advice to kickstart your journey.
We're going to discuss how to get better, how to find inspiration, how to use references and how to stay motivated.

I think this course will help you see through all the chaos of digital art advice that is out there.

If you're interested but not quite convinced, just watch the first few lessons and see how you like it.

Have fun!

Duplo Designs

Hi, I'm Duplo.

I am a passionate digital artist and graphics designer from Germany. Visit my website to view my artworks, read my articles and check out my projects!

Over the years I've created many many designs and artworks that express my love for the matter, and worked on several big projects including games, courses, websites, operating systems and classic art projects.

I especially enjoy landscape painting, abstract art, web design and developing new practical theory for art and design.

Apart from that, I have become somewhat of a productivity expert and I've spent a lot of time figuring out how to manage time, how to break down big projects efficiently and how to optimize development processes.

My goal with my online courses is to share my knowledge with others and to professionally break down complex topics so everyone can understand them. I want to enable people who watch my courses without wasting their time and give them the skills and knowledge to create something themselves.

Be it beautiful artworks, modern and effective designs, systems to achieve goals or routines to make your life better.

No BS, no talking around, no shortcuts, just useful and valuable information packed together with some fancy visuals and mediocre jokes, narrated with a German accent.

In my courses you will learn the good stuff.

I appreciate you checking out my profile, have a good day :)

Really good course for beginners starting to learn digital art, even without any art background. Explanation of the topics and excellent form of presentation made the course engaging and easy to absorb all of the information included. I learned how to use (first time) pen tablet and Krita. I painted my first digital painting and I never thought I could do it. I definitely recommend taking this course.

I am extremely satisfied with this course! I really enjoyed the introduction to Krita, the hands-on workshop, and all the useful tips provided throughout the lessons. The content is very well-structured and easy to follow. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future courses from this author!

I'm glad to have taken this course especially wanting to try out digital drawing after doing traditional art for years now. I thank you for this simple but complex and effective step procedure of the whole course!

I have used Corel Painter for over 10 years, and I am amazed at what Krita can do. Great teaching so we can see what a fantastic program Krita is.

When a video is too long, I start to loose focus towards the end especially if the details are coming fast. This video had a nice, comfortable pace. Not too much, but a great start.

Very good course with good tips for starting digital painting. Everything was good explained. I very much liked the part of making the painting. But also the tips for the theory and how to stay motivated.
