Jeremy Aschenbrenner

Hello! My name is Jeremy Aschenbrenner, but many know me better as The BA Guide, and I'm happy you are here.

I’m a veteran Business Analyst with thousands of projects completed throughout my career. I've managed business analysis projects for companies in diverse industries including health care, telecom, automotive, transportation, consumer packaged goods, car rental agency, food and beverage, financial services, consulting, and more.

Through personal experience, I quickly learned that business analysis can be confusing and even intimidating. There’s endless business jargon, technical terms, techniques, and methodologies to learn, and countless visual diagrams, artifacts, elicitation sessions, interfaces, and KPIs to wrap your head around. I’ve been there and learned all of that. Many years ago, I also learned a valuable lesson about myself: I really enjoy teaching others. This was the inspiration for The BA Guide.

This course is like a guide for people who're starting their careers in a business analyst role. The most interesting part of this course is the step 5 section ace the interview. Thank you so much for that personalized thank you notes section.

I personally enjoy learning how to transition into the B. A. Role. This class has helped me to research the correct job posting and to know which B.A. Role, I need to apply for. It's a wonderful help in this day in age of how to interview, and land that job, and start a new career. I truly appreciate all the wonderful insight.

Since I was expecting more skills and technical dealings like learning some software related to BA, not just talking around what’s required.. not much helpful. The ones I needed were labelled to extra pay, frankly m not sure if I pay either and I get something out of it.

Good tips. Even as an experienced interviewee and interviewer I picked up a few tips. Not sure about the thank you note, though. This may depend on the local culture. Here in Australia, I have never heard of anyone sending or receiving a thank you note after an interview. It might be seen as a little desperate here.

Very helpful to have everything you need in one course! The information is relevant to the process of finding employment as a Business Analyst whether you are looking to land your first BA job or having been a BA looking for employment. The course was exactly what I was looking for as a refresher on what to expect, how to prepare and what not to do during this "fun" process. The bonus section on salary negotiation was especially helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I like the way how Jeremy explains and states things, quite clear and easy to follow with acceptable speech speed while a lot other instructors speak really fast. I especially like the section how different BA skills are applied to different careers, which indeed helped me formulate my thoughts about how to recognize my current transferrable skills that are relevant to BA, even if I've never taken any BA role before. Plus I found out that it's more organized to list out 1-2 examples for each skill in the self assessment sheet, because if you use any prepared example during an interview, it would send the employer a signal like "Hey this person does have this skill", I know it does take time to figure out those many examples, but they will be rewarding in the interview phase. Personal suggestion: Some more details or examples to describe or explain those required skills would be appreciated. For example, topic like "What is critical thinking skill and what are some good examples for it?" could help more students to better understand if they have this skill, to what extent they have for this skill and how they can improve this skill. I also enrolled in Jeremy's other 3 courses: BA Fundamentals, Essential Modeling Skills & Techniques, Software Testing. So far I've completed this course only, and will continue to take the remaining courses as well, I look forward to the incoming journey to dig deeper into everything about BA, because that's the role I've been pursuing for along my career path.

I chose this course in the first place because it mentioned what I need - resume. Coming into the course I am about to get something more than resume the way it is starting. I'll see how it goes. Now that I have completed the course, I can confidently say "It is real value for money!" To be honest, I have gotten a lot more than I paid for. I am therefore going to follow Jeremy Achenbrenner to other courses I need as I believe he will be equally good here.

This is an extremely helpful reference. None of the information is rocket science, but it is presented by a professional who as been a job seeking side as well as in the hiring role. I'm making a career change to the world of business analysis, and the guidance is appreciated. Thanks

As a person studying to enter the BA arena, I found the initial steps light on info. However, I believe Jeremy uses this light information to assemble your thoughts in a way that helps you identify and explain your transferable skills to be BA job ready. Jeremy is also willing to respond to student questions and does so quickly and effectively. Thank you Jeremy.
