Course Description

In this course you'll learn how to create a REST API using the web framework PHP. If you wish to build an app or single-page application with a backend system, the go to way is building REST API's. Luckily we don't have to reinvent the wheel. Popular web frameworks, like Laravel, allow us to quickly build amazing REST API's.

During this course we take a project-based approach to learning about REST API's using Laravel. We will build an API for a task manager. This will demonstrate the most common problems you'll experience during the development of your own REST API.

During this course you will learn the following:

  • Implement CRUD actions for REST Resources in Laravel.

  • Make HTTP Requests using Postman.

  • User authentication with Laravel Sanctum using API tokens.

  • Sorting, Filtering and Pagination of lists of resources using the Laravel Query Builder package.

About Me

My name is Koen, it is nice to meet you. Starting out at the age of 15 with iOS development I never lost my interest in Software Development. Currently I mainly keep myself occupied with web development. I am invested in multiple backend technologies and frameworks, such as Ruby on Rails, Django and Laravel. On the frontend side of projects I follow the development of React, Alpine.js and Vue.js closely.

Very clear and concise course! I learned quite a lot of useful things to apply to personal and business projects. The course is still work in progress, can't wait for more great content. Thanks Koen!

I appreciated the bite sized videos of each concept. The API concepts were clearly explained and allowed me to get a better handle on some common API t tasks using the Laravel framework.

The course is moving through the material very fast! This is going to be a hard course for people with limited prior experience in php and overall web development concepts. It does cover a lot of ground! This course best for developers with prior php and webdevelopment experience that want to learn Laravel framework (and maybe brush up on their phpunit testing)

This course does not introduce to laravel or teach about laravel basics. If you never worked with laravel nor rest, this course will have no benefit for you. I use this course to watch how other people implement services in comparison to my own work. For this reason it is totally fine as I already know most of what's behind the creation of modules, routes, ... and why several steps are needed in laravel.

Excellent course! It delivers a straightforward explanation without indulging in unnecessary details or distractions. Looking forward to more courses from you Koen!

Very interesting! I have acquired much new knowledge here. I have developed some Laravel applications in the old-fashioned way (name it the monolithic-fullstack application). But when I learned video-to-video from this course, I was amazed at how many skill issues I have in Laravel. Even the sound is not the best, but Mr. Koen can explain what he does very clearly. Now, I feel more confident in building Laravel APIs. I plan to build some Laravel APIs publicly and get feedback from around the world. Thank you very much, Mr. Koen. I can't wait for the updated part of this course (especially for the logging part!).

Awesome course! A how to do it rest api course that is focused and uses core Laravel skills and methods (how to drive Laravel) that are not often shown by other courses. Also Spatie query builder and complex database relationships, observers, policies etc. are handled simply for us mere mortals but with skill by the instructor. Again. Awesome course and highly recommended.

It was really good, but I felt there were really no explanations for anything that was done. it was all a bit left to my interpretation.
