Course Description
Still not comfortable with Laravel PHP Framework?
Design and query database is probably the most difficult part of building database driven web applications. There are a lot of Laravel courses out there, but many students still feel like they are not good Laravel developers after completing that courses. One of the answer is, that courses do not teach database part enough. This course fills this gap. This course has more than 100 lectures and all of them are only about creating and querying databases in Laravel framework.
Check out the written comments on this course. This course has the most 5 star written ratings of all my courses!
Welcome to the very comprehensive Laravel Databases course. This course will teach you all you need to know to become a master at querying relational databases using Laravel framework. This course is the excellent training and is a must Laravel resource with lots of practical exercises about Laravel Query Builder and Eloquent ORM. After completing this course, you will be able to design robust Laravel database applications and query its databases.
This course consists of three main parts divided into 10 sections:
1. Theory with lots of practical and understandable examples about Laravel Query Builder and Eloquent ORM
2. Design and query blog database schema
3. Design and query hotel booking system database schema
(see curriculum for more details)
During the course, you will also learn about creating APIs and query its databases. You will learn a lot of very useful techniques to query databases very easily, including searching (also full text searching), sorting, filtering and pagination of database results. Also about creating indexes to boost performance of select queries, about creating custom models for pivot tables, query events, database table relationships and many other things (see curriculum).
The most interesting part of this course is to design and query database for hotel booking system (all tables optimized to third normal form - 3NF).
To better consolidate the acquired knowledge the course includes, in addition to lectures - quizzes, assignments and other practical activities.
For each lecture that requires coding, there are files resources that you can download and copy & paste, but I encourage you to write code from the screen.
I promise that you'll be a better Laravel developer after completing this course. And even if for some reason you will not like this course, Udemy always offers you a 30-day money back guarantee. But I doubt that you will not like it. I am 100% sure that you will be happy after completing this Laravel course!

There is a lot of errors in throughout the course. While the instructor assured us that the course "does not have many errors" as he is quite prepared. Also renaming the migration files to satisfy the order of execution is not a wise move. Especially when teaching.

This is a good course covering the essentiel of Laravel queries. Even though this course was written in an older version of Laravel while the version 9 was out at the time I took this course, I could follow along with some minor adjustments. Good programmers should be able to adapt and find the information over the internet so this is what I did and I could follow the course with Laravel 9. The only minor negative comment I have is that examples used in the first part of the course are too close to the official Laravel documentation and were sometimes confusing. I think a better approach would be blend the Hotel example and base the entire course on that example. I would nevertheless highly recommend this course. Good Job!

The course is good, however, it is not super advanced but intermediate. Video 46 is a mess, lots of errors. Videos 89 and 90 using sortBy after paginate. There is a section about Redis, however, the instructor only teaches how to install and create/delete a key/value, it does not show the use of Redis in the context of Laravel to speed up queries. Blog project: The most active user of a blog is not only the one who creates the most posts but *also* the one who comments the most. What I found funny is that throughout the course the instructor tries to prove that the IDE really imported the Model class, and the IDE removes the red underline, indicating that it was imported correctly.

The exact course I was looking for. Although I had Laravel experience, I was not that good with querying the database so this brought me up to speed for that. If I have a criticism it is that the course isn't in the latest Laravel 8. But I had no issues following along regardless.

This course was excellent. It was packed with information that presented in a clear and concise way. The lessons built upon each other and were easy to follow. I especially appreciated that the examples we worked on were not only "blog" but a "hotel reservation" example, too. The teacher was very clear in his presentation and explanations. I think this is one of the best classes I have taken, thank you!

Trust me it really helps u guys a lot. This course is just awesome because eloquent ORM is one of the the important topic to write database queries,In most of the course they followed some regular steps but you haven't got any idea to intract with database. After folowing this tutorial go and read documentation, each and every part of eloquent ORM and query builders are clear.Lot of love from INDIA.

Absolutely amazingly detailed course on an area overlooked by so many courses. There's no magic flashy front end to this ist is all text and understanding what and how to query data. There is so much to learn in this area and somethimes I got lost but only through my lack of knowledge to start with not the tutors. Very highly recommentded course it will make all those flashy courses that focus on front end features so much easier to comprehend. I hope at somepoint in the futur this author comes back and does a front end course to match this course with.

I definitely learnt new things from the course and I agree that the other Laravel courses don't cover database querying in enough detail, so there is a need for a course like this. I do feel much more confident about the differences between Eloquent, Query Builder and Raw SQL, and what each of their individual benefits are, which was the main reason I bought the course. I also appreciated the sections on using an SQLite database alongside MySQL, and using Redis as a DB, even though we didn't use them in the course. However I felt the course lacked a decent structure. Other courses I've taken set out clearly at the start of the video what we're about to do, and more importantly WHY, then we write out the code together with clear explanations of what the code is doing, then a small assignment or quiz is given so you can test your own knowledge of what you've just learnt, and then finally there's a quick recap of everything. This is a tried and tested teaching method. With this course, most videos don't have much more of an introduction than just "Now we're going to look at..." then the new code is just pasted in and a brief explanation is given. The code is then sometimes deleted, or commented out, and we move onto the next bit of code with "Now lets look at...". This is very awkward if you're trying to follow along. Usually I would have to pause the video whilst I copied everything, then rewind it and play it again, and more often than not, I'd end up reading the official docs anyway before moving on, just to make sure I've understood it. Also, more than a few times after testing the new code we're told "But this is not the best way to do this." and sometimes "I'll show you a better way later in the course." WHAT?? Why not show me the better way right now? Do I need to remember what you've just shown me, or is it useless?? This is very frustrating and confusing when you're trying to learn something! The two 'projects' at the end aren't really projects either - i.e. you cannot code along with them and have a fully-functioning API at the end of it. Controllers aren't used (or even mentioned in the course at all!), everything is written in the web.php root route, rather than separate endpoints in the api.php file, and the code is either commented out or deleted to make room for the next bit of code. So, was the course useful? Overall, yes it was. I've managed to make notes, which I think will serve me well in the future. The course description promises that "you'll be a better Laravel developer after completing this course", and I do feel like I am, but just not as much as I was expecting/hoping for. With some revision of the course structure, I think the material would be clearer to understand and much easier to internalise/remember, which would then make this a great course.

The easy going style and pleasant voice of the lecturer enhanced the experience. I found the lectures thorough, and learned plenty of new things about the Laravel framework. To me, the fact that the lecturer walked us through certain steps that caused errors, then walked us through fixing the errors added value to the experience. In a few areas where the lecturer made mistakes, he corrected himself by adding a visual clarification. There were a very minimal number of minor errors or inconsistencies, but I was able to make a note associated with that exact point in the recording. I appreciated this feature. I was able to complete the quiz quickly and easily, and only was mistaken on one question, only because I wasn't paying close enough attention to the fact that the QueryBuilder style rather than Eloquent was being used. Excellent - learned allot!

There's Simple Suggestion in case you can implement in your other courses that once you teach a topic just give a similar assignment regarding the topic you just taught and then after that its solution. This will give hands on experience to the students and they will feel confident that they can do it on their own as well. Other wise the Topics you are covering are just awesome and since when i was searching for a dedicated course for eloquent queries but couldn't find it an atlas my search ends here and lastly you are just too good sir.
