Linux Servers provide many user transactions, which are constantly vulnerable to security threats, due to data sensitivity. To bring an application up and running on a server is an important thing, but without taking security measures, it can end up in a disaster. Although Linux is immune to some of the dangers Windows servers encounters, Internet is still a dangerous place. Therefore it's important to apply security measures to prevent malicious attacks like brute force attack, etc.
This course was designed to show some practical tips on how to protect your server, that once applied, they will increase the level of security on your system and decrease the chances of it being compromised.

This course is great for refreshing one's memory regarding security best practices in Linux

This course is about 10 years old and not at all relevant anymore in 2025 and I mean this literally. Init.d, VMware Workstation 12, Debian Jessie, iptables, fail2ban => these were lastly seen back in 2015. It looks like this course has been recorded in 2015 and then updated (without renewing it's content) in September 2024. This is not how you do Linux server hardening in 2025. In fact if you deal with more recent distributions most of this won't even work anymore.

I truly enjoy this course; Gabriel does an excellent job of teaching a variety of topics that I was previously unaware of. Because I'm only halfway through the course, I'll update my final thoughts at the finish.

Carmen explains the Linux security basics well, and at a steady pace. I would like to see more exercises so we can practice, and tougher tests to confirm our knowledge and review any weaknesses

Buna Carmen! Compania la care lucrez ar avea nevoie de skill-urile tale pe zona de IT Infrastructure. Avem nevoie de o adresa de email pentru ca fetele de HR sa te poata contacta. Multumim!

I think it was nicely done. Maybe you can add something about Tripwire and some more quizzes would be nice and I always think one big Quiz at the End going trough all topics helps the learning experience. Thanks that was useful :-)

I like this course and this instructor. I learned a lot of interesting stuff, although I'm not a beginner in Linux. The course is hands-on with practical approach.
