Course Description
The secret to living your ideal life isn't a secret.
WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING (AI): Learners appreciate the course for its deep exploration of the concept of purpose in life, with many highlighting how it challenged them to introspect on their values and contributions to others. They found the course to provide a framework to evaluate personal beliefs, examine past experiences, and create objectives that give their lives meaning. The teachings, referencing philosophers like Plato and Nietzsche, were particularly valued for encouraging learners to perceive life with new, constructive perspectives beyond their limitations. Learners recounted how the course instilled a sense of purpose, leading to a more fulfilling life experience.
This course: LIFE SKILLS: FIND MEANING, PURPOSE, SUCCESS & HAPPINESS
After this course:
You will finally be able to live your ideal life and be able to continually improve it.
What is the right way for you to live? Should the right way change as you grow older and learn? Do you stick with the tried and true? Who knows what's best for you? This course says that only you know the right way. And this course will help you be confident in your choices.
There are four usual ways of living:
1. Making it up as you go along and at some point, often too late, realizing you've missed out.
2. Living as well as you can day by day, working hard, keeping your nose to the grindstone.
3. Deciding early your life purpose and sticking to it.
4. Deciding your life purpose and continually refining it.
Most people live versions of 1 and 2. Life isn't easy and just getting through the day demands just about all you have. As American writer Henry David Thoreau once said, "The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation." These hard-working yet struggling people, the majority of people in the world, can still enjoy portions of an ideal life.
Luckier are those who pursue #3. Mother Teresa comes to mind (and just about every rockstar). With the passion of youth that lasts for a lifetime, these people throw themselves into a purpose-driven life.
Rarer are those than find purpose and continue to improve how they live it. These people can reach the height of success in one area, then dedicate themselves somewhere else with equal or greater effect. Many women do this almost without thinking about it. A single mom makes it through college and begins a career, then starts her own business before giving it all up to become a doting grandmother.
Which are you at the moment?
This course will help you find your way to living a life of purpose no matter what your circumstances.
What makes this course different? I have spent sixty years seeking the secrets to living the ideal life. I help thoughtful/insightful people fulfill their potential by exploring significant life challenges. The goal is a life of enlightened uncertainty. This course assumes even people who knowingly are living their best life will be uncertain that they are. And this is a good thing. Tomorrow is not to repeat today's successes, but another opportunity to be better: always wondering, always growing, always enjoying. At the end of this course, you will be able to create and continually refine your core values in life.
As mentioned, I did that for myself beginning when I was 17. And as in #4, I have been refining it ever since. I received a doctorate in psychology in 1973, which included classes with Abraham Maslow famous for the "Hierarchy of Needs" and Viktor Frankl, perhaps the best-known name in the field as the author of the world-wide best seller, Man's Search for Meaning.
If you are searching to find or enhance the meaning of your life, take a moment to examine this material. I will help you create your ideal life.

I am a "focused" educator. Instead of wide-ranging 20-hour Master Courses, I create courses focused on the most important elements of a subject. To build a high-performing team, I teach you how to use the Four-Part Teaming Model; for decision-making, the five-step Harnessing the Speed of Thought tool. Of the life-skills I teach, many I created, others have proven themselves for over a thousand years. You will learn what you need to know to live your best life.
I don’t necessarily teach the best known or most popular method either, but based on my experience, you will learn the best method. After 55+ years, I know what has value, what works and what doesn’t work.

This is an excellent course that everyone should take. It provides a clear path to discovering your purpose and learning how to live a more meaningful life. I found it extremely useful. I only wish I had been taught these principles at college! Thank you very much for sharing this, Bob

This is a great course for kicking off a path in leadership or self transformation. I found that myself appreciating my work a lot more as well as my hobbies. Through this course my passion for musicianship has re-ignited and I have found time to practice without feeling burned out. The instructor provides practical well known knowledge and organizes it well. He does not speak from his own opinion or anecdotal evidence. He shares his wisdom and experience in a very approachable and easy to digest manner.

As a 38 year old someone starting their journey to self discovery and finding my "WHY". This course was my first step on my path of enlightenment and i would like to thank you Bob for your contribution to it. PS. I can relate to not being able to spell well...haha

Definitely a good match, resorting to good philosophers like Plato and Bertrand Russell really helps us find meaning, purpose, success and happiness in life. The unexamined vs examined life reminds me of Nietzsche's Übermensch, who is but an enlightened boy, who was capable of leading all their heritage and turning into a new and better person. Meaning of life, meaning in life, these are valuable concepts. Thanks Bob, you promised me enduring knowledge and I think you delivered it.

This course helped me to define my values and understand what needs to be done for me to live a successful life. It also helped me to understand that it is a continuous process that can evolve and change. It is my own path and no one else's. Accepting that can be hard but liberating.

It was a very interesting and thought provoking course. I think Robert has a very nice, relaxed style of presenting and doesn't come across as preaching like some of the other Udemy courses on this topic.
