Course Description
Hi my friend and a big welcome to this course on mastering your emotions during conflict.
Conflict is Inevitable
I want to begin by saying that conflict is an inevitable part of life. We know this. We come from different backgrounds, have distinct personalities, needs, values, perspectives, roles, goals and priorities, all of which set us up to experience disagreements if not outright conflict. So, the question is not whether or not we’ll experience conflict in our homes, communities or jobs. The question is how we’ll handle it.
What Determines How We Manage Conflict?
And here’s the premise of this course. The biggest factor that determines how well we handle conflict are our own emotional reactions. Conflict, by its very nature, triggers our emotions. Sometimes big emotions. Once triggered, it’s easy to act in ways that make things worse rather than better.
Some people, in the middle of conflict, go into an aggressive and fight mode, others run emotionally and resort to silence or appeasement, and still others distract and avoid. These tendencies are common and yet make conflict worse in the long run.
Purpose of the Course
So the purpose of this course is to give you the awareness and tools to calm and empower yourself so you can respond to conflict and difficult situations in positive and healthy ways. Let me be clear that my purpose in this course is not to teach you the steps of conflict resolution. I do that in my best-selling course entitled Become a Master at Conflict Management at Home or Work. Instead, I’m giving you strategies to manage your emotions so that you’re able to respond rather than react to those triggering situations. As you use these strategies, you've won the most important battle. You are now coming from a calm and empowered place and can enter into conversations in a way that allows you to talk things through or get to resolution.
Take Aways:
By going through the course, you can expect to:
Know how to calm yourself and regulate your emotions during conflict
Challenge harmful distortions in your thinking that cause you to escalate during conflict
Gain greater understanding and control of your emotions
Learn an "empowerment model" to understand how to change your thoughts, feelings, and actions during conflict
Prevent conflicts from escalating
Learn a four-step process of dealing with anger
Grow in awareness and emotional intelligence
Respond to conflicts from a quiet and empowered place inside
Improve your relationships at home or on the job
Practical Tools
I want to mention that the course includes lots of extras in the form of handouts and worksheets as well as exercises to deepen your learning and make it more real. I’m giving you all of the course handouts in a single PDF that you can download, if you like, at the start of the class.
I’m also making the course available as an audio file which you can also access with this lesson. By downloading it you can listen to the course on the go, instead of being on your device or computer.

Welcome to my instructor page!
For more than four decades, I’ve studied what actually helps people grow: the choices they make, the habits they practice, and the courage it takes to change, both individually and together.
At heart, I’m deeply curious about human growth, what helps people find meaning, fulfillment, and a stronger connection in their lives and relationships.
Over the course of my life and career, as a therapist, leadership consultant, teacher, and lifelong student of growth, I’ve seen the same principles surface again and again. The skills that help us thrive personally are often the same ones that strengthen our relationships and shape our lives.

I really liked this course. I believe that if this course was given to everyone in the work place, things would run a lot smoother no matter the field. Retail, Construction, Government, etc. I personally have seen everything discussed in the course, either in myself or multiple coworkers. Even outside of work whether a stranger out in public or a family member. These tools would be useful as stated in the course at work or in just everyday life.

First of all, I think, it is a very structured approach to self-control - this I liked a lot. What I disagreed with is the model of key moments which is the foundation of the entire structure. According to the model, first there is a circumstance, then there is a thought, then there is a feeling etc. However, provided examples rather fit into another model: first there is a set of pre-existing beliefs / values, then a circumstance occurs, and the way we feel about it is anchored in our beliefs. However, if this model were to be embraced, then the self-development would be not about improving the way we respond to circumstances (like e.g. "let's take a deep breath instead of acting out"), but about, so to speak, elevating our core values (like e.g. "let's do a good deed every day"). In other words, it felt like the course focuses more on treating symptoms than on curing the root cause. But on the other hand side, the term "anger _management_" already implies that we cannot get rid of it, but only deal with it, so I'd say, it is unfair to expect to suddenly become a way better human after listening about key moments for 1.5h. Generally speaking, the role of thoughts seem to be overrated. One of the provided examples (someone steps on your feet) just recently happened to me. I didn't think "oh, it was not on purpose" or "this was done intentionally". It simply hurt, like really hurt, and I exploded. Even if there was a thought between the circumstance and my reaction, I didn't even notice it.

Sangat keren!!!

Nice way to know how to handle your emotions, not just in a workplace set-up but for your everyday life. I get to have a chance to explore how to regulate myself specially in my hypersensitive moments. I love this course since there were so many handouts that I can print out to go back to. Thank you!

It is an amazing course, I believe it will be extremely useful for my personal and professional life. Also the instructor is very clear about everything, since English is not my first language, having someone who expresses opinions clear and simple really helps! I have learnt a lot , thank you! I will recommend this course to family and friends!

The course distills years of lived experience into clear, practical tools for managing emotions during conflict. I enjoyed it so much that I plan to revisit it until the lessons become second nature especially the techniques for staying calm and communicating constructively.

I found the presentation to be easy to understand, and delivered in a way that invokeds self compassion. When I say this, I specifically thinking of the tone of voice fo the presenter, which invoked feelings of being understood, not judged.
