Mastering DNS on Windows Server (Udemy.com)

The instructor presented the course in a clear and well-organized manner, making complex topics accessible for beginners. Practical examples and structured content greatly enhanced understanding, while the overall approach created an engaging and effective learning experience. This instruction significantly improved knowledge and confidence in the subject.

Nice overview of all/most of the DNS stuff in Windows Server, however I knew most of these. But I refreshed my memory and found out about some new things. I guess I wanted to have more real life examples, going in to depth and real-life scenarios, tips and tricks instead of going in width and cover all the things.

There aren't a lot of courses out there on Windows DNS so its hard to say there's a better one. I bought this course mostly for the DNSSEC and Policy related portions but I went through the whole thing just to be fair. This course was just "okay" in my estimation. It has some issues: 1. The presentation is very dry and robotic. Not sure why the instructor doesn't include video of himself presenting. His speaking tone never seems to instill any sense of excitement about the content. 2. Some of the content is kind of superfluous. If you need instruction on how to use ping and tracert then your probably not ready to be a DNS admin in the first place. In many places it felt like the instructor was just looking for content to add to the course to make it longer. 3. I feel the instructor missed a big opportunity here to talk about DNS design and operation in the real world. Some examples; you could make a whole chapter on DNS blackholing (with and without use of DNS policy), you could make a whole chapter on split brain dns (using 2 servers rather than via policy), you could do a whole chapter on coexistence/integration with BIND-based DNS environments. There definitely should have been a very deep chapter on reverse lookup. Especially if you want to do classless reverse lookup and caveats that go along with that. IMHO the examples given in the course were just too simplistic to be of any real use to most DNS admins. 4. A lot of the resources cited and attached are really old articles (even by Windows Server 2016 standards). Granted, some of the topics really haven't fundamentally changed, but stil... Either find something newer or write your own content instead of just pointing to other people's very old content. As I said at the beginning. There isn't much out there that even covers what this course did so it is better than most but I don't think your going to come away from this course a competent DNS admin if you have never done DNS before.

The course was very informative. I have approximately 18 years experience working in IT in a desktop support role. The explanations and hands on experience that I can use with my home lab are very helpful. Looking forward to the next course.

Very comprehensive and well organized. Pace was excellent. Material was presented expertly and the supporting resource documents are outstanding.

Not really started anything other than explain the basic descriptions of what the features are.

Paul's teaching is more or less okay. But didn't like the other instructor. May be this course is for more advance students. I think just reading out loud written notes and saying click here and click there is not a very effective way of teaching.
They are just providing too much information at once so i was having hard time digesting them.
Can't continue this course after watching 2 hours.
