Course Description
This course introduces students to the penetration testing concepts associated with Thick Client Applications. This is an entry level to intermediate level course and we encourage you to take this course if you are interested to learn Thick Client Application Security. This course uses a modified version of vulnerable Thick Client Application called DVTA to demonstrate how thick client application vulnerabilities can be identified and exploited. This course teaches you a variety of Thick Client Application security concepts such as Information Gathering, Traffic Analysis, Reversing & Patching .NET binaries, Insecure Data Storage, Decrypting encrypted secrets, Privilege Escalation etc. This course acts as a great introduction to spotting and exploiting vulnerabilities in windows executables. Though the course focuses on windows executable files specifically C# .NET binaries, the concepts remain the same for executables of any platform.

Very good course with a clear explanation Thick Client testing concepts. I really enjoyed the course and would highly recommend it. Also, if possible, can I please get the (PPT/slides) used during the course that cover all these topics? They would be very helpful for revision purpose.

You always hear about the things hackers can do to .net desktop application, and this makes it clear how they do it. It's very enlightening. There are also a lot of things that will be useful for debugging our code.

the course is good but all this information is available elsewhere from arguably better sources! Also the modified version of the lab used in this is obsolete as the original creator patched static ip usage.

Without having prior knowledge of pen testing, I started going through all the video lectures one by one. Coming to the end, I can confidently say at least I know the basics of pen testing for the thick client application. In parallel, l I've started pen testing a Delphi application and apart from reverse engineering section, rest all the sections of this course is very much relevant. Many Thanks.

It is good to a beginner. But as the instructor is expert , in course he will directly go to the hit points and say this is wrong. He should teach us to understand how to conclude what is rite and wrong , so when we test other applications we can judge which file / class / method to use further testing.

The course is a no-brainer go to course for any beginner looking to kick off their learning spree into Thick Client Pentesting. I look forward to see if the course can be updated with a checklist or more coverage for other languages. Nevertheless, it's an absolutely amazing course. Thanks CST Team for the great experience.

I really enjoyed the course, and was pleasantly surprised at the vast amount of information. There were many resources available and once I learned to use those in my profession, I want to appreciate patience in explaining each and every bit of the course in such a clear way.

I need to mention, this course is truly amazing. It gives you great fundamentals that any security professional should know when testing thick client applications and I am really happy that I got a chance to implement the practical examples. You have one whole section on Reversing and Patching binaries, which is amazing. Kudos to the trainer on his excellent delivery of the subject.

An excellent course on Thick Client Application Security testing. This would have been a great addition to my skills(when I was a pentester) if this course was released few years ago.
