Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,292 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2024. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short Excel starter, not the beginner to advanced program the title promises. It runs about 2.2 hours across 31 lectures and 14 modules, covering cells, rows and columns, concatenation, formulas, relative and absolute references, order of operations, sheets, filtering and named ranges. About 4,100 students have enrolled, and the rating is 4.2 from 1,292 reviews, with roughly four in five at 4 or 5 stars. It fits someone who has never really opened a spreadsheet.
Reviewers who liked it call it easy to follow, with good practice examples. The lower scores mostly agree on the content and just judge it differently: it is basic, and several say nothing advanced shows up. The loudest complaint is the intro and outro stuck on every video, about 35 seconds by one reviewer's count, with music and then quieter teaching audio. Others mention repetition, grammar slips, and a voice they describe as AI. One reviewer expected VLOOKUP, which the description mentions, and did not get it.
Dr. Wendy Pierre's teaching gets mixed marks: clear for true beginners, but some reviewers found it unorganized or slow. The last update was June 2024, so the lessons are not fresh. Treat it as a two-hour primer. Anyone past the basics will feel the title oversold it, and a longer course with real function and pivot table work will serve them better.
Pros
- Short at about 2.2 hours, so a first-timer can finish it in an evening or two
- Reviewers find it easy to understand and follow, with practice examples
- Small lectures on cells, formulas, absolute references, filtering and named ranges
- Project files and a certificate of completion are included
Cons
- Same intro and outro on every video, with music and quieter teaching audio
- Not advanced at all, and many reviewers say the title oversells it
- VLOOKUP is promised in the description, but one reviewer says it isn't taught
Excellent for someone who has never heard of Excel and has never worked on it before. Sadly, nothing advanced about this course.
Listed for all levels, but it really suits first-time Excel users. Reviewers who already knew Excel call it basic.

It was helpful, although the introduction at the beginning of every video added time unnecessarily. The audio volume for the introduction was great and only a whisper for the educational content.

There were some good learnings in the course, even iif much of it was things I already knew; I will say that the incorrect grammar and AI voice had me questioning Pierre's actual credentials as I am a stickler for grammar.

The explanations of what you will gain from the course is great.

It was good overall. I did learn some new things. However, I did expect to be taught how to use vlookup as it says in the description. there was a bit if repetition so time for this function could have been incorporated.

I feel this course is overrated. In the description it is told that we'll become expert in excel after this course. But I feel like it's very basic. Just one suggestion is it's not necessary to introduce the trainer in each and every video. Anyhow Thanks for the wonderful training.
