Course Description

The MO-211 certification is its latest Expert certification for Excel. Microsoft says that this certification demonstrates that you have the skills needed to get the most out of Excel by earning a Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps) certification.

It is a development of the MO-201 certification, and this course can also be used to prepare for that exam.

Please note: This course is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft.

This course has been created using Udemy's Accessibility guidelines. It follows on from your preparations for the MO-210 Excel certification. This content is available in "MO-210: Microsoft Excel (from beginner to intermediate)", which is published on Udemy.

In this MO-211 course:

  • We’ll start with managing workbook options and settings. We’ll reference data in other workbooks, manage workbook versions, and prepare workbooks for collaboration by protecting their content and structure. We'll also format and valid data, including creating custom number formats.

  • We’ll then manage advanced charts and tables. We’ll create PivotTables, configuring value field settings and adding slicers, with create and modify PivotCharts, and create and modify advanced charts, including Box & Whisker, Funnel, Histogram, Sunburst and Waterfall charts.

  • We’ll then create advanced formulas and macros. We’ll use functions for performing logical operations, looking up data, use advanced date and time functions, perform data analysis and troubleshoot formulas. This will also include newer Excel functions, such as XLOOKUP, LET, FILTER and SORTBY.

  • Finally, we’ll look at other Excel Expert topics. We’ll fill cells based on existing data, we'll create custom conditional formatting rules, and create and manage simple VBA macros.

No prior knowledge is required. And there are 10 Practice Activities, 10 quizzes and a Practice Test to help you remember the information, so you can be sure that you are learning.

Once you have completed this course, you will have an expanded knowledge of Microsoft Excel. With some practice, you could even take the official Microsoft MO-211 exam, which gives you the "Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps)" certificate. This would look good on your CV or resume.

It is also the first stage to you getting the "Microsoft Office Specialist: Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps)" certification.

Exam is much more challenging than the course material provided. Please add problem sets utilizing complex nested functions. One of the exam questions required the use of randarray() to randomly select from only 3 defined numbers. Only after the exam did I learn randarray had to be nested inside an Index function. Please add sorting and lookup using multiple criteria and outputting a list of values based off of input criteria from a drop down. Course needs more practice probelsms.

This course is advertised as teaching to the MO-211 course. However, it is missing key exam skill metrics, including Create advanced formulas and macros, which is up to 30% of the exam. It is also missing skills from topics it does cover, including: Copy macros between workbooks; Enable macros in a workbook; Fill cells by using Flash Fill; Fill cells by using advanced Fill Series options; Generate numeric data by using RANDARRAY(); Group and ungroup data; Calculate data by inserting subtotals and totals; Apply advanced conditional formatting and filtering.

I didn't think I'd be learning so much. I thought I was proficient at Excel, but this is a deep dive into functions I use, but with abilities I didn't know were possible.

800+ first try. This course covers all details needed for the exam. But be carefull : time management during is key, like really. You need to be prepared, knowing any function, any parameter, any tools. The only bad thing i could say is that quizz and task is just too easy compared to the exam level. It could make you think the exam is easy. It is not.

I did this course and the MO-210 preparation course. I can say that this course have all you need to prepare yourself for the MO-211 exam. I passed in the first try, but it is important to say that even this course has everything, you also need to practice in the GMETRIX, it is very important don't skip this step, because the exam is very fast!, you need to know where is everything and practice a lot to have good reflexes and automatic answers for every question. So, yes, you need other kind of practice to do that!

Great course so far, but I have one note about Practice Activity Number 5 (Logical Formulas) - in the second question it said "use a single IF statement" while answering the question and I spent over an hour trying to figure it out, only to check the solution video and find that you used multiple IF statements. Just thought I'd point out that because it might confuse others as well.

This course provided confidence and assurance to take the Excel MO-211 exam. I enjoyed the beginner and advanced courses. I'll be taking the GMetrix practice exams next before taking the actual Microsoft Exam. I might also add that the book "Excel Bible" and Chandoo's course are other materials I studied first. The book is great to read and review while Chandoo's Excel Dashboard stood out in that it provides beyond Expert tips and tutorials.

I learned so much about Excel in this course that I didn't previously know even after using Excel for years. This course left me feeling extremely confident in my ability to pass the MO-211 Excel Exam.

By Joe Stauffer on 7/2/2023

It's a very good course, well organized and on point. It included a lot of extra tips that one doesn't really need to know for the exam. (I say that based on my experience with MO-201, not 211). But it was a nice bonus. I learned more than I expected to. The screen always showed vast tracts of data without any zooming, which kept the formula bar and dialog boxes tiny and hard to read on my laptop. I can only imagine what it's like for someone trying to do this on their phone. I had to employ the Windows magnifier a few times to see what was going on. Overall, though, an excellent course. I'm glad I took it.

Great course, very explanatory and interesting. I love the fact that there is quiz and practice activity at the end of each section. What I love most about the course is the fact that one must pass the test at the end of the course to get the certificate, it really sets the course apart. Thanks Philip.
