Course Description

In today’s digital world, protecting yourself online is no longer optional, t’s essential. Every click, every login, and every connected device is a potential entry point for cybercriminals. That’s why this Personal Cybersecurity Bootcamp was designed: to give everyone from absolute beginners to more advanced learners, the tools and strategies needed to build a strong digital shield.

This hands-on bootcamp covers both fundamental security habits and advanced defense tactics. You’ll start with the basics: creating strong passwords, setting up two-factor authentication, and securing your devices. Then, we’ll move into deeper topics such as protecting your privacy on social media, identifying phishing attacks, defending against malware, and preventing identity theft. Along the way, you’ll also learn about encryption, safe browsing practices, and the latest cybersecurity tools professionals use.

Unlike other courses that stay theoretical, this bootcamp is practical and actionable. You’ll see exactly how to apply each technique on your own accounts and devices ensuring you walk away with real skills, not just knowledge.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the confidence to navigate the internet safely, protect sensitive information, and stay one step ahead of hackers. It was a great, very useful, and comprehensive course! I learned a lot about personal digital security. I’ll never forget the most important piece of advice: it’s not about strategy, tools, or antivirus software—it’s really about our mindset.

I enjoyed taking this course as much as I enjoyed the Part 1, 2 and 3. The topics are broken down to manageable sections with appropriate duration. Alex also discusses each topic interestingly and they are very relevant and useful in reality. I also like him giving real time examples and walking the talk. Lastly, the additional bonus tips/lectures in the end adds more value.

I have been out of the Cyber Security field for a couple of years and found Alex's Absolute Beginners guide parts 1-4 to be a great refresher. My new role will include security of company mobile devices so I found those blocks of instruction of particular interest.

all the topics are covered in before courses itself, i don't find anything new in this course

Love the courses (parts 1-4). As a web developer, I would recommend some more research and commentary on OAuth/Open ID. In 2.10 you advocated against using these, but scope is predefined with the provider, and changing scopes will invalidate tokens. When building websites, when taking a security-first approach, I would rather not be responsible for storing user passwords and risk that being breached, given the average user's password choice. Providing ONLY OAuth based login options means I only store tokens that can ONLY access the items clearly stated on the provider's website - for example, just a name and email. From a user perspective, it's also one less password that can be hacked and one less password that I have to remember. Because of login sessions/cookies for facebook and google, for example, I don't even need to enter my password when logging in with those providers, so there's no risk of being fooled by a fake OAuth workflow in that sense either.

I enrolled for all 4 parts hoping to gain more insight with each part. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There is way too much repetition and recycling of course material. At certain times I felt frustrated to see the same story again. Parts are supposed to be complementary and not repeating stuff from other parts over and over. To my opinion you don't get bang for the buck if you enroll for all 4 parts. Overall, if the 4 parts were merged into 1 or maximum 2 parts then this could be a good introduction. Part 4 itself (apart from the "bonus" section which comes from part 3) is fine.

It was an amazing and learning experience about Cybersecurity courses. Did all the courses (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 & Part 4). Hopefully, this will help towards to my future career in Cybersecurity. Loved the contents and information about cybersecurity.

Alexander Oni is a knowledgeable instructor. While this course is a summary and repeat of topics from previous courses in his Absolute Beginners Guide to Cyber Security 2020, there is enough new content on password managers, app permission within mobile devices, safe browsing practices and the importance of computer/smartphone back ups that makes this course solid. The Security Checklist and Summary are great resources as well.
