PowerPoint basics is a free course where you learn basics about the software and its animation features. Enjoy!

Our take
Based on the ratings of 10,988 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in December 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
Andrew Pach made this as a free prequel to his paid PowerPoint courses, and he says so up front. It runs 1.3 hours across 28 lectures: 17 on interface basics like slides, shapes, text and pictures, then seven short ones on transitions and animations. More than 226,000 students have joined. It is meant for someone opening PowerPoint for the first time, maybe for a class assignment or a work deck. Anyone who already builds slides comfortably will find it thin.
Reviewers mostly like how plain it is. Comments describe clear language, tasks to follow along with, and a lighter, almost YouTube-like tone. A few picked up shortcuts, such as holding shift while drawing shapes. About 84 percent of the 10,988 ratings are four or five stars. The complaints are small but real: one reviewer wanted more on photos and backgrounds, another struggled to see the menu bar in the recordings, and a two-star review called the teaching merely average.
At 77 minutes of video, this is a quick start, not a full training. It was last updated in late December 2025. Beside the broader beginner-to-advanced PowerPoint courses on the same page, it works as a free first step to see whether the teaching style suits you, which is exactly what the description says it is for. Take it if you are new, then move to something deeper once the basics click.
Pros
- Clear, plain language and follow-along tasks make it easy for total beginners
- Free, with 28 short lectures that fit into one 1.3-hour sitting
- Teaches handy shortcuts like shift with shapes, plus building a full animation sequence
- Updated in December 2025, with a relaxed, YouTube-style delivery reviewers enjoy
Cons
- Only 77 minutes, so photos, backgrounds and design depth get little room
- One reviewer found the menu bar hard to see in the recordings
- No certificate, and one reviewer found the teaching merely average
Easy to follow and do the tasks simultaneously. Also language is clear and understandable
Fits true beginners. The requirements say no prior experience, just PowerPoint on a PC or Mac.

The course has 2 main goals here which I explain right at the beginning and am completely open about:
I want you to get familiar with PowerPoint and teach you a little bit about the program itself and its animation features.
I want to make sure that in case you are interested in my premium courses but are not sure about my teaching style, the pace of my lectures and if you will be prepared enough to enroll them you will be 100% equipped to do so after taking this course.
Sometimes people did ask me to make a very basic introduction to PowerPoint - and I believe such a little Crash Course is the perfect way to be released as free content since you can ensure that you will have the neccesary "prequel" knowledge to understand any other, more advanced course.
All of my courses are fairly beginner friendly but in case you would struggle I encourage you to take this course first to see how it is. If you already know everything that is taought here - you are overqualified and ready to go :)
What this course IS, and what this course ISN'T. Please read to not be dissapointed!
It is a very basic and brief introduction into the software and it's animation features
It is very beginner friednly
It is aimed for people with little or no prior tech experience or knowledge of PowerPoint
It isn't an advanced powerpoint course
It isn't a complex, insightful explanation of all powerpoint features
It isn't suitable for advanced powerpoint users - if you understand the basics you do not need to take this course
I think I am very clear with my message about the intentions of the course, what is beeing taought here and who is it for. Some of the features you will learn here are bext viewed by reading through the lecture curriculu,.
Some features I want to explain here:
What is PowerPoint, what is it used for and the difference between its versions
Explaining the interface, how to add slides, save presentations and export them to video
Adding & editing shapes, text, pictures and designing an entire slide
Using both transitions and animations including all their types and changed timings
Creating an entire animation sequence for a slide
and of course some more features along the way :)

Andrew Pach
Hi! My name is Andrzej Pach (but Andrew is easier to say ^^) and I spend my daily time with graphic design, presentations, motion & animation, typography, video editing, and online teaching. Most of my work is done in Adobe After Effects & Microsoft PowerPoint 2019 / 2021 / 365 and Camtasia so naturally, this is the software I want to teach about and share my experience with. I have completed more than 5000 graphic projects for clients, mostly including video animations like intros, outros, and transitions for various YouTube channels & marketers. On Fiverr alone (a freelancing website), I have more than 3500 reviews and 4k+ finished jobs. I would like to share with you the knowledge that I was able to "stack up" during the process. I am always willing to help people out by enhancing their brands and projects.
Who am I?
I'm born in 1989, live in a small village in Poland, and graduated from my University in July 2014. A few years back, when I tried to find my "place" after getting hired to prepare a website, flyer, and business card for a local business in my area, I finally "felt it". Since then (2011) I have expanded my skills in this area by completing various graphic, website, and design-related projects. Places like the Warrior Forum, freelancing websites, and graphic contests across the web caught my interest and never let me go. I run my own company since April 2015.

Contains all the basic stuff covered as it is a free course, yet it could be much more. Maybe in his paid courses he's a much more of a good teacher, i don't know it's totally average.

This course is excellent. Even though English is not the tutor’s first language, he explained everything clearly and did a great job teaching. The content is easy to understand definitely deserves a 5-star rating.

Great information given in short videos making it easier to keep up. The materials that were downloaded prior to starting also made it easy to do the work alongside the class.

This was an amazing course for both a beginner and an intermediate. I learnt so much which I didn't before. Some features which were taught were a lot interesting and surprising too. Surely going to improve the quality of ppts ur gonna create further.

I've got background on PowerPoint and its animation features, but it's a good refresher to familiarize the basics. It's a good start for learning more advanced features of PowerPoint to make more complex animations. Also, thank you for the coupons!
