SAMPLE QUESTION:
What happens for a consumer application when closing one of the consumers cleanly?
(Choose one)
The Kafka broker will notify the group coordinator that one consumer is leaving, and the group coordinator will trigger a rebalance immediately.
The consumer application will consume messages with one consumer less.
The consumer will notify the group coordinator that it is leaving, and the group coordinator will trigger a rebalance immediately.
The consumer application breaks with the exception NOT_ENOUGH_CONSUMERS.
What's your guess? Scroll below for the answer
Correct: 3.
The way consumers maintain membership in a consumer group and ownership of the partitions assigned to them is by sending heartbeats to a Kafka broker designated as the group coordinator (this broker can be different for different consumer groups). As long as the consumer is sending heartbeats at regular intervals, it is assumed to be alive, well, and processing messages from its partitions. Heartbeats are sent when the consumer polls (i. e., retrieves records) and when it commits records it has consumed.
When closing a consumer cleanly, the consumer will notify the group coordinator that it is leaving, and the group coordinator will trigger a rebalance immediately, reducing the gap in processing.

Experience as Developer
As a self-taught developer and software tester I had the chance to broaden my horizon by studying engineering and mathematics where I hold a Master's degree. That enabled me to work in a major strategy consultancy for a lot of different customers. The time i spent in this sector greatly improved my overall experience and skills and i got the possibility to certificate myself in many different areas all about IT consultancy and app, web and cloud development.
With this experience my goal is to enable all my students the possibility to achieve the same skill set with as less time as possible. All the practice exams are well structured and with many high quality explanations to give you the winning edge for your certifications.

The practice exams here are genuinely valuable as review for the Certified Developer Exam. However, I'm leaving 4 stars because there are a lot of ksqlDB and Zookeeper questions that need to be replaced, making the exams out of date.
By David Schuld on 3/17/2026
I am very disappointed by this course. The syllabus is completely outdated and does not properly prepare for the exam. In detail: A large amount of questions contains either kSQL or Zookeeper, which are both out of scope. Zookeeper has been deprecated for years! It is replaced by KRaft which does not appear in this course at all. Also, some of the links to "further study material" are either outdated or link to content that is unusable for the actual question.

PASSED THE CCDAK EXAM TODAY WITH 75% .The study questions and materials I found here were exactly what I needed. They were instrumental in helping me revise effectively and guided my further reading, ensuring I was well-prepared. Thanks a lot for the excellent resource

KSQL DB questions are out of syllabus . It is mentioned in Confluent Page. Please remove the questions related to KSQLDB . Exam will be kind of tough if we don't have any experience in Kafka and attempting this exam with our own knowledge.

I passed the certification exam with a 90% score. The questions were similar, in my experience. However, you wouldn't pass if you only do the tests here. I appreciated the detailed explanations and references in the answers. You should also study those references and, if there isn’t one provided, search for it yourself.

It is difficult for me to assess the accuracy of the questions, but I can definitely say that this course helped me prepare, the questions on the certification were similar, but seemed more difficult to me, some were simple. I can definitely say thank you to the creators of the course for these questions!

I used this as my main resource to prepare the exam, I passed. I also checked a few videos and documents, but most of my time was on the tests, I think the tests focus a bit too much on memorizing the names, fields, properties etc.. and the exam doesn't require that much memorization is a bit more on the understanding side. I did also put a large amount of notes that were very helpul for quick reviews on my github.

After passing the CCDAK, I can say that this collection provides a very good sense of what the questions will be like and the structure of the exam -it was helpful during my preparation. Coupled with reading 'Apache Kafka: The Definitive Guide', watching all the free Confluent 101 courses, and reading the documentation along with practicing is a recipe for success.

I think both the answers are correct for this question, do you agree? Why can it be very challenging to add partitions later, if you are sending messages to partitions based on keys? Correction answers: After adding partitions later, it cannot be guaranteed that old messages will be on the same parition as new messages with the same key - I agree with this answer. After adding partitions later, it cannot be guaranteed that new messages with the same key will go to the same partition. - This is also correct right?
