Course Description
So, you've decided that you want to learn R or you want to get familiar with it, but don't know where to start? Or are you a data/business analyst or data scientist that wants to have a smooth transition into R programming?
Then, this course was designed just for you!
Hear what other students have to say first:
"I came to this course after an online university course *cough coursera cough* left me crying. The entire curriculum that this class covers was what they covered in week 1, and from what I've heard, R has a very steep learning curve. The extra time taken to even walkthrough installation is clearer here. It is much appreciated. You get lots of opportunities to practice, follow along, and really build your knowledge step by step." 5 star review by a Udemy user
"A really really good course for beginners in R, highly recommended. Everything is well explained in detail and enough coding exercises to get you familiarize with concepts before moving to the next section.
Thanks for this Ivo, appreciated." 5 star review by a Udemy user
"Easy to understand, calm and clear explanation. Covered points which are ignored by other tutors. Great" 5 star review by a Udemy user
This course was designed to be your first step into the R programming world! We will delve deeper into the concepts of R objects, understand the R user interface and play around with several datasets. This course contains lectures around the following groups:
Introductory slides lectures with the most well-known commands for each type of R object.
Code along lectures where you will see how we can implement the stuff we will learn!
Test your knowledge with questions and practical exercises with different levels of difficulty!
Analyze real datasets and understand the thought process from question to R code solution!
This course was designed to be focused on the practical side of coding in R - instead of teaching you every function and method out there, I'll show you how you can read questions and examples and get to the answer by yourself, compounding your knowledge on the different R objects.
At the end of the course you should be able to use R to analyze your own datasets. Along the way you will also learn what R vectors, arrays, matrixes and lists are and how you can combine the knowledge of those objects to power up your analysis.
Here are some examples of things you will be able to do after finishing the course:
Load CSV and Excel files into R;
Do interesting line plots that enable you to draw conclusions from data.
Plot histograms of numerical data.
Create your own functions that will enable you to reutilize code.
Slice and dice Data Frames, subsetting data for specific domains.
Join thousands of professionals and students in this R journey and discover the amazing power of this statistical open-source language.
This course will be constantly updated based on students feedback.

I found this course was really well organised. The practical exercises were great to test and check your learning. As a beginner R programming student, this course was a great starting point to learn the basics and build a starting foundation for further training using R. I feel that I will need to go back and review again from Section 14 to really understand the coding strategies to assess real-world datasets. Thanks Ivo for all your hard work building this course and teaching it in a fun and informative way! I hope to continue one day with the Data Science Course.

I recently completed this R programming course, and I must say it was exactly what I was looking for as a beginner. The course is well-structured and easy to follow, making it a great starting point for anyone new to R. What I appreciated the most were the coding exercises, which helped me gain hands-on experience and build confidence in using the language. The section based on the Walmart dataset was particularly valuable, as it provided a real-world perspective on how R is used in practice. As a suggestion for improvement, I would love to see even more coding exercises and one or two additional real-life dataset-based sections similar to the Walmart project, as they significantly enhance practical learning. Overall, this is an excellent course for beginners, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone starting their journey with R.

I am someone who comes from a very heavy SQL background. I always like to learn new things when it comes to data analysis or data engineering. Your course was very easy to follow along and the content was easy to understand. R can be challenging but that is a part of the learning experience! Will most likely take your Python course soon

Who knew indexing would be so important? Ivo does a great job of explaining the underlying fundamentals of how the R program organizes and handles data. While I am still incredibly slow, I feel more confident in my ability to load, visualize, and interpret data in R. This got me to the level of descriptive statistics, I am hoping next to get into linear regressions and other forms of analysis.

The course material was easy to understand and follow, even as a rather hands-off person (I prefer to make notes than follow step-by-step with RStudio, half the time I don't even have RStudio open). Some lectures seem a bit repetitive but it helps to refresh my memory so I am fine with them. I don't know how much of this can be used in handling real datasets, or applicable at work since I haven't tried yet, but it is a good start to learning more advanced content. I personally am keen on getting more familiar with ggplot2 - after finishing this course I still feel like I'd plot faster using Excel, but with the right training and practice R offers way more in terms of flexibility and customisation.

I really enyjoyed these lectures, Ivo is an excellent tutor. The lectures are concise and beginner friendly. I started with no prior experience in R or anything related to data science and I feel more confident to dive deeper into data analytics after completing this course. And Ivo always answers to questions in detail and within a short period of time. Would recommend to anyone starting R. :)

It was an excellent course for complete novice R programmers such as me. I recommend Ivo as a teacher; his lessons are easy to follow and well-articulated. I wish the course went a bit deeper into functions and statistics; however, overall, it was worthwhile.

Most of this course is really well thought out and put together. My one criticism comes in the Functions section. The examples provided in the lectures are good for beginners, and reasonably well explained. But when it comes to the coding exercises, the tasks are much more advanced and pretty unrealistic for someone who is learning functions for the first time . It would have been much better if the teacher had provided a wider range of function exercises so people learning can slowly ramp up, rather than being given very few exercises (3) that are a lot more technical than anything we saw in the lectures.

Learning language can be very interesting or boring depending upon how you understand the concept. if concepts left unclear then one cannot play around with it. In this course, Instructor took care of everything. he maintained the flow so neatly that every concept is falling in place one by one. Course is well alligned. Coding exercise, examples, theories; all are well structured. He explains the concepts veryclearly plus he maintained a certain pace so that everyone who wants to learn R, understands it at the same time he is explaning. Playing around with data and R is now filled with fun and its becoming very very interesting.
