Reactive Programming with Spring Framework 5 (Udemy.com)

I'm surprised that this course has so many positive reviews. It was a very basic course, with a bunch of disparate things thrown in to make 3.5 hours. You could get the same knowledge just by reading some spring docs.

Full end to end WebFlux application with Spring Framework 5 would have been better.

Could have spent more time on the main tenets of the Reactive manifesto, I mean the fundamentals. A section devoted to Java streams API perhaps was not needed, perhaps more focus should have been on the basic semantics of Rx, spring-reactive. The reactive code unless explained with sufficient clarity could be tough to understand.

It has been good so far. I now have some exposure/introduction to reactive programming. Already familiar with concepts of passing functions around and streams in Java. i.e. the concept of functional programming from Java perspective is becoming clearer.

Very good examples. Explanations are short and sweet.

John Thompson does a great job explaining about Reactive Spring development. I only wish this were extended a bit more to other things like JPA and Hibernate for example.

Too many explanations of super basic stuff not connected with the topic of the course (docker, spring autowired (!), etc.). Only a handful of code examples which are ready in the video all of a sudden (I needed to pause and read through the file instead of being a spectator while the author is creating it). The "problem" in the end shows that the author's knowledge on the topic is not too deep.

The introduction is quite ok but besides the fact the course is outdated, it barely scratches the surface on reactive programming. Just following the tutorial on the spring website will teach you the same...

My only complaint was the lack of explanation concerning the SynchronousSInk generator example. Otherwise - very, very good.

Yes, I like the instructor. He is candid and honest - and doesnt seem to be intimidating at all. I am sure I will enjoy the course.
