Course Description

Source Filmmaker - Class For Beginners

This is the first, one and only, Source Filmmaker (SFM) class online.

Once I realized that there are no SFM courses online, I immediately had to make one!

This course is created for absolute beginners, people who never worked with Source Filmmaker.

Things you will learn in this class:

1)Starting Out & The Interface Of SFM

2)Making Our First Sequence

3)Add Different Shots In The Sequence

4)Adding Sound - Music, Sound Effects, etc.

5)Making A Shot From Scratch And Importing Elements

6)Generate Motion From Scratch - What, When, How

7)Final Stop - Exporting

If I see enough interest in this class, I will update it weekly and show you how to create professional animations. For now, you will learn how to use the program and how to create basic Animation Films, which I personally think is enough for a beginner to start using this program!

There's also our Class Project so make sure you check it out.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was clear, easy to understand, and i had (almost) no problems using the software! I plan to start making my own series when i get good with a program. This was a great place to start! And I absolutely think you should continue this course, it's awesome!

It's a bit unprofessional, it feels like something you'll find on youtube, but pretty useful so far.

I've learnt the interface of SFM. Although, this guy did give me some more info abt the interface like the Z & X. Like using the arrow keys to go to the beginning or end of the timeline.

It's a good decent experience for new guys who don't know how to use SFM correctly , but it would be very nice if you did add those advance steps that you mentions which covers voicelines, bone animation , custom voice lines , and more. it would help me and others who want to get good at animating stuff in sfm with a good amount of experience. it would also be cool if you would assign people to do certain projects to help them practice their skills.

This is the kind of stuff I expect from a beginners point of view. The video series so far is well structured, and I can see what the creator of the series is saying in a sense with the lack of information about SFM. Overall, for me, this is an excellent refresher on SFM as I have used the software in the past. However, I have surprisingly learned a lot more then I would have thought as well. Such as small little tricks to make my experience with it more efficient. The reason why I have not given this the full 5 stars is because I would love to see more advance techniques. Despite it being just for beginners. I also think for the price that it is set at it feels like that there is not enough content to make it worth the £200. Obviously, I grabbed it on a sale dropping it down to £10, for that kind of price it's perfect. Some of these techniques could be: Lighting Basics Advanced Lighting Puppeteering models Creating animated movement such as a character speaking, hand movement etc Particle animation Walking animation Those are some ideas that I can come up within my head. I would love to see an advance series of this, which would be amazing and happily pay for something like that.
