SQL Beginner to Guru: MySQL Edition - Master SQL with MySQL (Udemy.com)

The whole course is greatly presented. I belive that the most basic issues are depicted and what is more important the logic which stands behind them is explained. However do not expect being a senior-class specialist after completing all lessons. I used that course to refresh my SQL knowledge and some (or even many, but I am not an expert) essential queries are missing. Despite that fact I think it is a great way to enter the SQL world :).

This course is pretty useful for SQL beginners to understand basic concepts of SQL. The lectures are really good and the course has very good hands-on assignments. One thing I feel with this course is that it covers all basic concepts whereas for becoming SQL Guru, there should be some sections on advanced concepts like concurrency control, stored procedures etc.

Mein zweiter Kurs, der erste ist Spring Framework 5: Beginner to Guru. John hat eine sehr angenehme Stimme und er zeigt immer wieder Tricks wie man sich die arbeit erleichtern kann. Finde es sehr gut das er seine Fehler in den Videos lässt und man auch durch seine Fehler lernt. Finde es sehr motivierend das jemand nach 25 Jahren MySQL auch noch Fehler macht, das macht ihn menschlich und nicht zu einem Oberlehrer wie man es bei anderen Tutoren sieht. Danke John für diesen und deine anderen Kurse, jeder einzelne hilft mir weiter.

The course is really great overall. My only feedback was on the database name "employees" with a table inside called "employees", which at times was confusing. I would have created a db called "companyABC" with an employees table inside.. Also I would apply real world examples when it comes to some joins, updates or deletes just to have a clearer vision. This is a 10.5 hours course after a while the eyes get tired of looking at the same display on workbench. Either then that, the speech was flawless and the you kept it up, I never felt annoyed once. Really well done!

Great experience! Very well chosen content, explained very understandable and supported by a lot of examples. The assignments are challenging, which I like a lot. It gives you the opportunity to master the knowledge from each chapter. I strongly recommend the course

Al principio las clases me parecieron un poco tediosas, pero ahora que ya voy por la mitad, el curso es muy agradable y practico puedes practicar lo que se que revisa en las clases y tratar de hacer tus propias sentencias para probar la funcionalidad que tienen. Ahora que he acabado el curso me parece muy útil, ya que pude reforzar los conocimientos que ya tenia y mejorar algunas practicas

Excellent course by John (as always :) Only remark I have is about missing some info/explanations about indexes. He uses them several times without descent explanation. John mentions we will see it later, cause he has a whole section about it but its not in the course (yet). Hope you will add it :)

I actually landed a job through this course, I am a finance professional but thought of moving to business intelligence, i was called for an interview, before my interview i went through this course, i was completely new to SQL and programming but the step by step instructions made my life a lot easier, if you practice the assignments by yourself and go through them a few times you will get conceptually strong and would be well equipped to do data analysis using SQL. A huge huge thank you to the instructor John Thompson, I wish i could thank you in person some day. good luck guru

John T. is fantastic, tons of experience and gives you a high level idea of how parts of the industry have evolve. John gives options for lectures based on skill level, particularly in set up. I would have personally liked more interaction with the command line as opposed to workbench and some talk on how to be command line efficient in SQL in the workplace. That's the only reason I'm giving 4.5 stars. One other thing, I speed up videos at least 1.5 or 1.75x speed.

It is my third course of John, and for the third time I am satisfied with the content. As always you get tons of information, and what is very important for me: Assignments - Part of the course, when you can challange yourself and see that you really learned something new. MySQL was something new for me, but topics were covered in a nice way, from the beginning to more advanced topics.
