Course Description

My promise to you:
if you give this course an hour of your time, you can become a better storyteller. I work for a living as a storyteller. These are real, useful methods learned from years of hard-earned experience and countless helpful tips, classes, and books on storytelling -- all boiled down into three simple chapters. I don't waste time on history or pretentious theoretical musings, these are tools I use in my work every day, communicated swiftly and clearly. This isn't a comprehensive storytelling course -- after all, it's only an hour. Rather, this course comprises the most fundamental lessons Ithink all storytellers should know -- and ways to avoid mistakes many unsatisfying stories make. These are some helpful fundamentals Iuse in my own storytelling every day - explained in a simple way Ihope anyone can understand. This is the course I wish I'd had and I'm excited to share it with you. Why is this course effective?
Because I create stories for a living. I've made podcasts, documentaries, and overseen hundreds of branded projects for digital platforms. My work has been distributed on Netflix, Amazon, nominated for Emmys, won film festivals and more.
I started my own storytelling company based largely on using these simple principles - you can find samples at my company site listed in my bio. From Instagram to Facebook to Youtube, I've earned millions of views online through engaging online storytelling and have a deep understanding of how to convert stories most effectively into all shapes and sizes. Iuse these same principles to train former staff at digital media empire Uproxx and Pepperdine University. And I've used these tools to win numerous studio awards for excellence in story telling. It doesn't matter what storytelling medium you're trying to improve, if you aren't taking into account how digital media has compressed our consumption habits, then your skills may need an update. And Ifundamentally believe they shouldn't be expensive, time consuming or boring.
Please feel free to scan some of this course's reviews -- here are just a few 5 star reviews from real students:*****Damien Duma:
Honestly speaking I wasn't expecting so much value in such a short course, but it was truly amazing! I am not new to storytelling, but it helped me a lot to understand the whole game better and I got few golden nuggets from the course too. Thank you and well done Matt!*****Laura AnnMoore:
Thank you for giving me such valuable insight on how to keep people engaged and excited about what I have to offer. The course was short, convenient, and straight to the point. Awesome!*****Mario Mendoza:

I've received 5-star reviews from product managers, tour guides, marketers, entrepreneurs and many more. I try to use an overview of relevant examples and lessons anyone can learn from and apply to their specific needs. Disclaimer:
This is a one hour course. My promise is this will make you a better storyteller inan hour - even if that's just one helpful tip you can use in your own storytelling - it doesn't necessarily mean you'll immediately be able to go from zero to writing COUNTOFMONTECRISTOafter only an hour (If only!). The fundamentals taught in this course are widely applicable across mediums. But as Buddha aptly said, "Knowledge can be taught, but wisdom must be experienced." Applying these skills in your own time is essential. Storytelling is a muscle - the more you exercise it, the stronger it will get.--I'm a passionate storyteller and my aim is to help improve your ability to connect and inspire in the quickest amount of time. Thank you for checking out the course!

SUBSTANCE OVER CONTENT
Content is forgettable. How can we create something that pushes culture? This question is my life's pursuit.
My names Matt Livadary. I'm a Los Angeles native, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and Creative Director and love any medium where emotional storytelling reins.
Iwent to USCfilm school and worked in Hollywood for several years -- including Creative Artists Agency and Apparatus Productions. After my documentary QUEENS & COWBOYS: A STRAIGHT YEAR ON THE GAY RODEO earned international accolades and a Netflix distribution deal in 2014, I moved into digital storytelling and helped build one of the pre-eminent digital documentary divisions on the web.
At Uproxx, I helped build and oversee Uproxx's creative studio from the ground-up - creating stories for some of the largest brands in the world (Intel, Honda, Sony and more). During my tenure, Ioversaw hundreds of documentaries, personally directing our flagship programs to reach Uproxx's 50M unique monthly audience. The work Ihelped create earned every major digital distinction from Cannes Lions, Gold Clios, OMMA, Digiday, Webbie, One Song and even Emmy nominations.
In 2018, I founded Arroyo Parkway, a one-stop shop that helps brands reach audiences through heartfelt stories. Under this umbrella, I've created award-winning podcasts, and am grateful to have worked with clients like the NFL, Honda, Uber and more.
I live for telling stories with heart & empathy to unify a

Great course - would recommend. One hour delivered a ton of great ideas.

By Susie Bauman on 11/15/2020

the content is very relatable and interesting

By Amantha Ryan on 11/15/2020

I have rated this 3 Stars for I am finding that this specific pace isnt working from me when it comes to the fastness in which the ideas are being presented. I am also finding the background music to be very distracting and repetitive. As for the content, it is fine but not anything I haven't heard before when it comes to a "Why" in order to capture your audience up front. I am curious to see how the rest of this course plays out.

By Deepshikha Chatterjee on 11/8/2020

The points are direct and fast paced. The author is engaging and grabs attention with the little bags of facts.

By James Pierce on 11/8/2020

The overall lessons being taught appear to be fine, however, the author has been wrong on a number of facts within his presented stories which makes me look at everything else he says with a jaded eye.

By Emma Sexton on 10/27/2020

really good so far, music in background is a tad distracting

By Xin Feng on 10/25/2020

Really innovative

By Sowmya Mohan on 10/24/2020

I found this course and some of the points in this course very important and something I had not thought of before. However, I would have appreciated more examples from his life, and in general more examples than him talking about all of it entirely. a break in the speech would have been welcome considering it was all spoken very fast

By Zuzana Sormanova on 10/23/2020

interesting , engaging. Nice examples from daily life or things we know.
One only thing I did not like about this course is the music in the background which often disturbed me.

By Mark Guzman on 10/23/2020

This lived up to the expectation. Do another course.

By Yogesh Bhargavan Nair on 10/21/2020

so far interesting and engaging

By Tomer Dean on 10/15/2020

I learned many basics of telling stories (regardless of the medium). I will use the new understanding and tactics for pitching a business plan.
