Our take
Based on the ratings of 554 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in March 2020. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is the third and last chunk of Jason Teteak's Rule the Room trainer bootcamp. It has 24 lectures across seven sections, about 4.5 hours in all. Topics include answering any question, managing distractions, showing the training was worthwhile, helping individual learners succeed, assessing trainees and building a lesson plan. The requirements ask learners to download the workbook, pause the video for activities, and ideally take Parts 1 and 2 first. The audience list is wide, from trainers and HR managers to teachers and instructional designers. It was last updated in March 2020.
Reviewers mostly like it. Of 554 ratings, 320 are five stars and 177 are four. People single out the methods for handling unruly trainees and tricky questions, and several call Teteak clear, energetic and easy to apply. One reviewer says the ideas also work at home. The complaints are practical. The video keeps rolling during exercise silences, which is awkward for solo learners. The board is hard to see, the room looks dull on screen, and one person found it too long and detailed. Another said the listed length was misleading and the subtitles need work.
At 4.3 stars, it is a solid, focused pick rather than a standout. Only 49 reviewers gave three stars and just eight gave two or less. Because it is the final part, starting here without the earlier two may leave gaps. Anyone training in person or running groups will get the most from it. Learners who want a passive listen, or who have no group to practice with, will find parts of it idle.
Pros
- Clear methods for handling tough questions and unruly trainees, which reviewers rate highly
- Teteak is described as energetic, clear and easy to follow and apply
- One reviewer found the techniques useful beyond work, even in home life
- Short at 4.5 hours, with five quizzes and a workbook for the exercises
Cons
- Video keeps running during exercise silences, awkward for solo learners
- Last updated March 2020, and the board and room look dull on screen
- Best after Parts 1 and 2; one reviewer found it too long and detailed
Jason does an excellent job of presenting the material that is well thought out and easy to follow and apply. The techniques to minimize distractions are invaluable!
Pitched at all levels, but it suits trainers and teachers who run live groups, and works best after Parts 1 and 2.

Course Description
This program dives deeply into the strategies and techniques you need to be an effective trainer. You’ll not only discover how to motivate adult learners, keep them interested, deal with challenging participants, and maximize learning, but you will actually do it yourself.
When You Finish This Training, You’ll Have a Proven Plan For:
TRULY ENGAGING,
APPLICABLE CLASSROOM TRAINING
…That Doubles Learner Retention in Half the Time with Curriculum You Already Have (Even If It’s Boring)
Ineffective training costs money.
According to Grovo, the total loss to a business from ineffective training is a staggering: $13.5M Per Year per 1,000 employees. Not surprisingly, if you ask most trainers and managers about their training efforts, their responses are typically less than enthusiastic…
“Our learning programs aren’t doing a good job meeting our learner’s needs.”
“I’m not achieving my full potential at work due to lack of developmental opportunities.”
“I don’t know how to apply the skills from the training I received on the job.”
Or the always-popular…
“Training is boring.”
Say what you will about classroom training, but the fact is…
There’s Nothing Boring About DOUBLING Your Retention Without Having To Increase Your Training Time
Ordinary trainers may think classroom training is “boring”… …but smart trainers know better.
Smart trainers know that, when executed properly, there’s no faster, easier or more cost-effective way to engage employees to reach their full potential than classroom training.
But how do you do it the right way?
Specifically,
How do you get your employees excited about your training to attend a class or listen to a lesson so they take the desired action? And then, when they attend…
How do you get your class engaged (even the difficult learners) and keep them motivated to listen and learn ALL DAY? And once they’re engaged?
How do you make sure the learning sticks and they can apply the skills from the training they receive to their job? (Their real jobs…not the “Theory” job and DEFINITELY NOT the “Recycle” bin.) Then…
How do you measure the entire process so that all your new trainers and employees are skilled and you’re not spending more money and time on retraining?
These are the questions every classroom trainer must be able to answer…
More importantly, these are the questions every MANAGER must be able to answer if they want to fully maximize their training efforts (without having to replace employees as a result of turnover.)
So if you want to make sure that your employees not only are engaged…
…but also are highly motivated, retaining and applying their learning and (most importantly) achieving their full potential (and sticking around because of it), then you need to work on these critical steps.
But how do you do it?
Fortunately, that’s exactly what you’re about to learn…
FACT: Businesses Need Effective Classroom Trainers
(…Who Actually Know What They’re Doing)
I’m not going to sell you on the importance of classroom training. If you’re here, you already know it’s an essential aspect of any training strategy, because effective classroom training:
Is one of the highest ROI activities in your business…
Engages employees who are disengaged to achieve their full potential at work resulting in higher retention rates and less labor turnover…
Makes the workplace a lot more fun and inspiring translating into less money spent on retraining and development.
In other words, effective classroom training on-boards, engages and retains quality employees…and it can save money as a result. So that’s why businesses need effective classroom trainers.
There’s just one problem: Most so called “classroom trainers” aren’t as effective as employees would like them to be.
That’s where you come in.
As a Certified Classroom Training Specialist, you are uniquely qualified to help business onboards, engages and retains quality employees through effective classroom training.
More specifically, in this master class, you’ll learn:
How to create TRUST with each trainee before class even starts… (Do this right and you’ll see participants crave your class and want only YOU as their trainer!)
How to captivate them within the first five minutes … (HINT: have a “less than amazing opener” and their excitement and enthusiasm will suffer.)
How to use proven techniques to generate MORE credibility and MORE rapport and get them in the palm of your hand by the first break…
Which questions and techniques you should be engaging them on a lesson-to-lesson basis so their minds never wander…
“Attention CPR”…How to help them follow along and make sure they stay on track and get them listening and participating again!
The “lightbulbs” concept attainment strategy (and why applying these 5 simple steps will practically ensure they “get it” – even for the most challenging concepts.)
Using Non-Verbals: 6 body language and tone of voice techniques to get you’re your trainees to listen, learn, follow, understand and apply what you say.
FOUR Q&A steps that actually work and ensure you’re only the perfect questions! (This is how to answer any question, even if you haven’t got an answer)
The two most important things to do with ANY challenging trainee to minimize distractions (Get this wrong the negative, inattentive and apathetic employees will take control)
Amazing Ending: The perfect way to end the class and show it was worthwhile to move them to respond with enthusiasm and apply what they learned to the real world.
Benchmark Assessing: How to ensure each learner has mastered key objectives (so you always know who’s ready to move forward even after class is done).

Too long, too many details. It feels like creating a robot. A clone. That is distracting, creates a loss of focus and requires a lot of filtering afterwards to get to the point. The trainer himself is obviously knowledgeable, has great energy, keeps good fluidity.

The only thing I didn’t like is that the video kept running during silences. I would prefer the instructor say pause the video while you complete this task to the minutes of silence so I can just listen (as I’m not doing the course with a group and can’t do the exercises).
By Carl Herbst on 10/16/2022
Lessons are valuable but from a visual standpoint its not stimulating and makes it hard to follow. I think the room color and size was a factor in the video, for me at least, but I do find it hard unless actively engaged.
By MIke Brown on 7/17/2022
Needed a better approach to training. The old dominate by knowing everything approach just wasn't getting it done. This system looks like it will work much better, and I don't have to know everything anymore.

All of the courses in the entire series that I have gone through to this point have been very beneficial. The content is all directly relatable to my role and I have found many ways to tie this back and continue improving.

Great and insightful course. I can highly recommend this course to anyone as it covers the topics of not only training but also human interaction in general. Please write a book about how to handle difficult people, Jason! Your non-violent way is very appealing, thanks.

As I go through the last part of complete the trainer boot camp, all I can say is that it's worth the time and effort. What I picked is that its not about me but about the people am training. Therefore all I do needs to revolve around that.Thanks.

I really enjoy Jason's material and teaching style. While I'm not 100% sure how to apply everything to the type of training I currently do, there is a lot of material I will be able to implement.
By Anissa Ray on 3/27/2020
I took the all 3 parts of the Train the Trainer Bootcamp and it is amazing! It validated some techniques I have always used, helped me see where I could make improvements and how I can ensure I am engaging all trainees in a session. I highly recommend this training. I really appreciated the self-pace and although taken online, I felt engaged during every activity.

Was alright but the course length is misleading with the timings for each topic Subtitles need improving
