This course will take you through the various aspects that lead to serial killings. We will look at the psychological research related to the development of sexual deviance, the influence of trauma, and the social factors which can contribute to serial killer formation.

The course syllabus will cover the following questions:

  • What defines a serial killer?

  • Are all serial killers caucasian and male?

  • Do all serial killers have schizophrenia?

  • What is behavioral profiling and does it work?

  • What leads an individual to commit serial murders?

These questions and more will be answered throughout this course!

Recommended videos in the lectures do not work. YouTube states "No longer available." New students do not have access to the recommended videos and there are no alternatives suggested.

the presenter stumbled over many words. it sounded like she was just reading a piece of paper someone had just handed her and not something she had actual knowledge about. the content was good but her hesitation was distracting.

this course was truly amazing. i've learned so much from this that i want to go on and participate in more of the criminology courses that are available at Udemy. It has opened my eyes to the complexities of the human mind that i wish to learn more, and to see which has more value in the nature/nuture debate when considering what makes a serial killer.

This was informative on many of the fundamentals of serial killers. However, there were two issues: 1. The links to the videos/resources were no longer valid. When you click the link, it brings you to Youtube and then an error message that it is no longer valid. 2. The presentation was dry - and a little boring.
