1Z0-071 Oracle SQL Developer: Certified Associate (Database) (Udemy.com)

I decided to take this course because I needed to use SQL at work. Before taking the course, I could only write simple SELECT queries, but as I progressed through the lessons, I gradually became comfortable using a wider range of SQL syntax and functions. At first, I was not planning to take the certification exam, but studying through this course gave me more confidence, so I am now planning to take the exam as well. Thank you for providing such a great course!

The only thing i disliked is that some of the videos ended while the instructor was speaking, I do not know the exact cause but it does happen, and sometimes i realized that between videos, he had rolled back, but i did not know until i reviewed the code in the provided Word document. it was only a minor inconvenience, but it is still a coherency issue which made the learning experience a bit more difficult. Do not quote me though, at the time of writing, i have not taken the actual Oracle Exam yet.

Explanations are clear, there are practice activities after each session (could be more though). And this is the best SQL 1Z0-071 course I could find on Udemy -> I bought 3, but two of them returned (after few lessons). Stayed with it as the instructors teaching style seemed most appropriate. I learnt a lot! Why not 5 stars? Because this course will not be enough to pass 1Z0-071 . It does go over almost all topics necessary (except GTT and some aspects of privileges), but exam is very, very detailed - so you have to practice exam questions separately. (I have to say that this course will be much more suitable for work as it includes more analytical functions than needed for the exam). Passed the exam today with 88%. Good luck and keep studying!

Very clear & thorough explanation of various Oracle-SQL aspects, with quite a few examples. Sometimes the flow gets more verbal than necessary, wearing the viewer out, nevertheless one can always select a faster viewing-speed. In respect to analytic functions, I believe a more detailed introduction was necessary (e.g. in respect to starting / ending points), in order to be able to dive into the specific details of each function. Moreover, some of the more technical topics are only briefly mentioned (e.g. parameters / settings for defining external tables, sequences, etc.), whereas the actual exam may require further knowledge, as it was the case for me. Overall it was a very good course, thoroughly presented, giving the viewer a substantial & sound-proof knowledge of Oracle-SQL, but unfortunately it is not 100% sufficient for passing the exam.

The instructors examples and knowledge were great, however two things would make this course 5 stars: 1. More practice problems 2. Suggestions in actual ways or post course problems sets to practice This instructor cops out with, "Dive in on the job or practice this on the job" (Paraphrasing). For those of us without a job with Oracle to practice, you have to find some other way to practice.

The course is really thorough and covers all the arguments required by the certification exam in a logical and beginner-friendly way. However, sometimes, I got lost in the coding with the continuous back and forth and rollbacks in the videos. A clearer, and more sequentially structured, step by step, code, presented in the videos or in the resources (which I would give in .sql format openable/editable by one of the numerous pads existing) would help to understand all the operations better.

Philip is an extraordinary instructor if not one of the best instructors here on Udemy. The course was concise and step by step from beginner level all the way to the advanced level preparing students for the Oracle SQL 1Z0-061 exams. Some shortcomings of the course ; 1. not enough explanation on the "ORDER BY" in the OVER() PARTITION BY() section 2. Definition & uses of Indexes weren't well explained and I had to look up external sources to fully grasp the concept. 3. FLASHBACK TABLE section came out a bit chaotic making it rather difficult to understand. I had to look up external sources to fully grasp the concept on how to use them when the table is dropped & when you enter wrong data into the table and want to do a flashback. 4. the ON DELETE clause could have been better explained as well. Aside from that, the course was as expected. Thanks for the course and the effort invested into creating it Phillip and I'm looking forward to taking your other courses.
