Course Description

The course has been completely re-recorded in 2026 for Spring Boot 4 and modern KRaft-powered Apache Kafka 4.

Build production-ready event-driven microservices using Apache Kafka and Spring Cloud Stream from fundamentals to advanced patterns, testing, security, and a complete real-world project.

This course is designed for backend developers who want a practical, no-fluff path to mastering event-driven architecture with Spring Boot.

What you will learn:

  • Kafka Fundamentals (from scratch)

    • Core concepts: topics, partitions, offsets, consumer groups

    • Ordering, keys, rebalancing, scaling consumers

    • Producer/consumer configuration and performance tuning

    • CLI tools and hands-on demos

  • Spring Cloud Stream: Build Real Applications

    • Consumer, producer, and processor services

    • Reactive vs imperative approaches

    • Message routing and event processing patterns

    • Dynamic producers with StreamBridge

  • Advanced Kafka Engineering Topics

    • Scaling and parallel processing

    • Batch processing

    • Message acknowledgement strategies

    • Error handling, retries, DLQ

    • Transactions and exactly-once semantics (myth vs reality)

  • Kafka Cluster Deep Dive

    • Replication and fault tolerance

    • Broker configuration and listeners

    • Running multi-broker clusters with Docker

  • Testing & Security

    • Integration testing with TestBinder and Test Containers

    • Serialization pitfalls in tests

    • Kafka security with SASL/SSL

Why this course is different:

  • Hands-on demos for every concept

  • Focus on production realities

  • Covers both Kafka internals and Spring abstraction

  • Includes scaling, failure scenarios, and testing

Elevate Your Career with In-Demand Kafka Skills:

  • Become a valuable asset to your team by building high-performance data pipelines.

  • Stay ahead of the curve in the rapidly growing field of real-time data processing.

A great Kafka fundamentals section for newcomers. The instructor was superb at explaining how to use Spring Cloud Stream to send and receive messages to Kafka, but the framework could be extended to any messaging system. If you want to learn another Spring abstraction framework, I highly recommend this course.

i am having the 17+ years of experience in java , now i had taken break and try exploring kafka in-depth and AWS, This is course is good to me to understand the kafka features.

This is incredible course. This is 6th or 7th course from this tutor. He is really good at explaining complex stuff in easy manner. Looking forward to Kafka design patterns non-reactive course.

Extremely understandable, accompanied by a large number of slides and instructions on git, careful and detailed explanation of all important concepts with plenty of examples. The instructor immediately gives the impression of excellent understanding with a serious and true pedagogical approach, so that learning becomes easier and more efficient. Big praise.

Great respect for Vinoth Sir! He is good knowleadge on advance java topics.Very well structured course on kafka.Yes, if u r new to reactive programiing better to do the reactive programing course first to better understand the coding part.Concepts wise kafka explained is 10/10. Thanks for making this course.

I had an excellent learning experience with this trainer on Apache Kafka. The concepts were explained in a very clear, structured, and practical manner. From basic fundamentals to real-time producer–consumer use cases, every topic was covered with great depth and clarity. The hands-on approach, real-world examples, and patient teaching style made complex Kafka concepts easy to understand. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching journey. Keep inspiring and shaping future professionals!

Initially i found some difficulty in setting up the Docker and Kafka while starting the course. But once the Docker and Kafka was setup, i was able to follow the course content without any confusion and i was able get my hands dirty with the Apache Kafka concepts explained in the course.

Good thing is - you're covering real-life problems, exceptional cases, improving efficiency, etc. apart from just like typically covering theory chapters only, which is excellent and un-matchable in market. Thanks Vinoth !

By Wes Strater on 4/18/2024

I think the content was good but the delivery of the code was very hard to follow along with. Seemed to be jumping around. Starting something and then switching to develop a helper class. The code we were supposed to be following was covered by the InteliJ code assist so you couldn't see what he had just written. The lectures just end. Once a lecture has ended, there is no way of rewinding a short distance to see what you missed.

Really awesome course! Good and simplified explanation step by step with visual information, without any overwhelming info. Please, take it if you want to know Kafka better.
