3 Minute Portuguese - Course 1 | Lessons for beginners (Udemy.com)

In this course Kieran explain how and where to use the masculine and feminine words. We are very excited to learn new word and phrases every day. We also try and implement the word and phrases it to our daily routine to exercise our pronunciation. We would highly recommend this course.

The course is exactly as advertised… Short, clear, and helpful videos, which make it easy to learn in bite-size increments. He’s pleasant to listen to, which makes a big difference as well! I like the clarifications on pronunciation, and even though the pauses sometimes seem long, sometimes I need the time, and when I don’t, I try to use them for extra repetition.

I loved how this course was structured. It made learning easy. I would've given it five stars if it weren't for the Brazilian Portuguese interruptions. There are loads of Brazilian Portuguese courses already available but hardly any European Portuguese courses. I was so glad to finally find one and enjoyed it but I would rather not be distracted time and again with how it's said in Brazilian Portuguese. Of course, it does help to know the differences, so you could perhaps add a footnote on the slides with those variations. Good job with the course otherwise! :)

I am profoundly deaf and have been looking for a course that will only teach me how to read and write (as I cannot do speaking and listening). I couldn't even enrol in a college class for the same reason. I wish to learn Brazilian Portuguese so that I can speak to my Brazilian friends. The same goes for Latin American Spanish course (also enrolled with the same author)

Well structured, lots of opportunity to review new words in the course, so not too much studying outside the course necessary. A definite recommendation to start learning the language. What I did not like - Section 11 has to be completed to get the certificate. It has two big chunks that would be better broken down into smaller chunks and - they are totally optional to continue with the course. The vocabulary sheet for "food" does not quite match the lesson, and where European Portuguese comes first throughout the course, Brazilian Portuguese is often first in the "food" vocabulary.

I am British myself - I already speak French as a second language and I’ve lived in Iceland many years learning their language but I am a huge fan of Romance languages and Portuguese is a language I’ve always wanted to learn . As Kieran is also British he teaches the language in the mind of the native English speaker how we would remember things easily and fast and think alike . I’ve not known a course like this where I remember things so fast / successful and easily . I talk already at work with some Portuguese colleagues . I absolutely love it ;) . I’ll definitely purchase the continuation courses. All the best Simon

While I like the structure of the courses and I think dividing the lessons in 3-4 min chunks was a very good idea the content could be better, less repetitive and more mental challenging. I bought the second course as well and I hope it will be better. Overall definitely a positive impact on my knowledge and the course is a good investment but there is place for improvement.

I just saw someone give out a comment about them only learning "delicious" and "absolutely" and I found it very amusing, I laughed. Is that all you learn in Course 1? No it's not but yeah Kieran, it's now stuck in my head LOL Quando falo português tenho que incluir sempre "absolutamente" e "delicioso" sempre que posso. The biggest takeaway for Course 1 is having the ability to communicate basic wants and needs in public settings. I actually use the 3 minute series as a supplemental during the weekday outside of my weekend Portuguese classes to help me grasp concepts and it works.

Since I've learned other languages before, the course seemed a little slow at times. But the advantage is that through sheer repetition and a limited number of words and expressions (that you're likely to use in your travels), the instructor really makes it stick. And when you need to use those phrases, recall will probably be pretty quick! The 3-minute format also allows you to learn in small increments, whenever you have the time.

I had my doubts initially having attempted to learn a language before and failing miserably. This course however exceeded my expectations and I found it a great introduction into the Portuguese language. The premise of doing short focused lessons really resonated with me, as I could do a lesson or two in my coffee break and I could repeat lessons for practice. The key here however is consistency and trying to do at least one lesson a day. I did find some of the lessons a bit impractical as I would have like to learn more “conversational” Portuguese, rather than “tourist” Portuguese, however the focus / explanations on basic sentence structure and the eccentricities of the masculine / feminine were really useful. I’ll definitely be re-doing lessons to embed the learnings and enrolling for the second course. Muito obrigado, Kieran!
