Each lesson is easy to follow, and very little memorization is necessary due to the contextual methods used to present the lesson material. This is a excellent way to start learning Russian! For those who may be intimidated by the perceived difficulty of learning to speak Russian, Mark's teaching style cuts through all barriers and make learning fun! I highly recommend this course to anyone searching for an easy, yet highly effective way to learn Russian.

Great course. New words and phrases are taught by combining English sentences with Russian words to help get meaning out of context. Conversations are built upon previous lessons and work as excellent reviews. Highly recommended and I look forward to taking Part 2 through Udemy.

This class is easy to follow and the lessons actually work for learning Russian with zero previous experience. Although the instructor speaks English, he provides ample sound clips from Russian speakers to help you learn the pronunciation of each word/phrases learned in sections. Also beneficial to learning in this class is the instructor's method of "building understanding from context".

Mark combines the Michel Thompson method and the old school one. He gets you right to the point really quick within a real world situation. I hoped if he has added the Russian Accelerator course to Udemy as well for quick catch up. The course is designed on a slow pace and sometimes I didn't need even to hit pause to practice. In this short course I've understood many grammars that even natives failed to explain to me. He teaches you using patterns and keeps giving you a tip for each lesson which I'll be applying for all languages that I'm studying as well. I gave 4.5 stars because for 5 stars I think it needs more material in the course. In spite of that, I got the right kick-off to steep my learning curve in Russia. Спасиба Mark!

Excellent introduction to Russian. I was able to impress some friends who didn't know I was learning until I began to speak it to some visiting Russian tourist. Using Context based learning was amazing, and once you figure out how to apply this elsewhere it makes an excellent addition to any would be polyglots toolbox.

I like Mark's method and it is effective. Probably the quickest and most effective method I've ever encountered, and I've learned two other languages before this. I learned them the hard way - in class. To expand on Mark's great method, I draw cognates from my native language AND the others I've learned. Plus, applying Mark's method helped me expand on my other languages as well. Mark's not just teaching you a new language, he's teaching you HOW TO LEARN. Take the course even if you don't intend to become fluent in Russian. Take it for the discipline. Take it for the methodology. Take it for the confidence you will gain. You won't regret it.

This is the best course I have found to get started with learning Russian. Every other program I started got bogged down in grammar and explaining too many details. With this course, you learn useful material naturally and efficiently. I live in Russia and started using what I learned right away, it has been awesome! Thank you!
