Algorithmic Trading with NinjaTrader (Udemy.com)

This content is getting old using NT7 coding which is quite different in places from NT8. Yuri covers some valuable subjects but clearly hasn't put in as much planning or preparation as a professional educator would and consequently it is often confusing and difficult to follow at times. It is worth the money on a steep discount but not at full price if you are new to NT you will learn how the code platform and its code hang together. You will not learn how to code in this course, you must already know C#. I commend Yuri for creating the course but it is far below the quality of a good course on Udemy.

I'm a professional developer with 20+ years of professionally coding. I am new to Algorithmic Trading though, so this has been really helpful. Wish though this was teaching NinjaTrader 8 instead of NinjaTrader 7. Why would anyone learning NinjaTrader for the first time start by learning an older version? If someone is learning something new, they are going to want to learn the latest and not have to learn the older version and than have to relearn the new version.

The instructor clearly knows Ninjatrader and programming, but he's not great at passing these skills on. The course is rather unstructured and his lectures seem unprepared. Code isn't always explained or even typed during a lecture, and for some reason 2 different versions of NinjaTrader are used. Also, section 2 is slightly too basic for people without C# experience. You'd do well to watch a C# primer on YouTube before starting section 2. Also a lot of "I don't know what this is", which is rather unacceptable for someone teaching a course. On the other hand there aren't many resources that go deep into coding for NinjaTrader. This course, combined with NinjaTrader documentation, google searches and a background in programming are a decent starting point.

I won't give a good or a bad recommendation for me as a beginner on C# is not the right course the jumping back and forth on NT7 to NT8 is not easy but I think when Yuri does a Basic course I would buy it. Yuri is also one of the first they sell courses for Programming C# on NT with a really acceptably price i hope one day you do a basic one Thank you

Learned an amazing amount plus valuable resources that I will refer to later. Thank you Yuri. A very valuable course. It does start with NT7 and switches to NT8 about halfway through - not a problem. Udemy is the only source for NinjaScript lessons on the internet that I could find.

The sample strategies alone are well worth the price of the course. However, due to my lack of C# knowledge, it has been difficult to follow along with the instructor's fast-pace lecturing style. I needed to go back to watch many lessons extra times and practice the coding myself to fully understand those lessons.

So far, in Getting Started, the Account Setup and Activate Strategy in SIM mode are essentially irrelevant to me, because, for some odd reason, the author chose to use NT7, whereas I am using NT 8.0.19.0. There are so many UI changes between his NT7 and my NT8 that it is impossible to "duplicate" what he is doing. Because I saw there was an update 8/2019, I fully expected NT7 would NOT be part of this program any more.

Author know his stuff, but if you don't have no knowledge on coding, you cannot learn anything from this course. He doesn't explain why each lines are added, but he just goes through the coding process. I was totally lost, as I am new to the subject. The course is not for beginners, but for intermediate and advanced.

I've used NT for a while, but it was great to review the basics and there were even a few items I hadn't had experience with. So, even though this is a development course, I thought it was great we had this background instruction, "prior to getting into the code". Looking forward to the next module. p.s., one of the recently added modules actually answered a difficult issue I was having (hooking an ATM strategy to a custom strategy), so that alone paid for the course. I'm going to really enjoy this!

Yuri is a very fast, knowledgeable and talented programmer and luckily he shares his knowledge with traders ,when there is so little such video content for Ninjatrader programming out there. I rated this course 4.5 stars instead of 5 only because the first section is too basic for traders with any experience with Ninjatrader and because the content is not presented in a very organized way at times. The content jumps around spontaneously at times. In addition, you do need to have some C# programming knowledge. But there is a lot of content, many hours, and that is great. And there are some hidden gems in there at times, that I have not found taught elsewhere. So in my opinion, the course is very much worthwhile.
