Course Description

Use Jetpack to build a modern Android App with this new course on Android development and Kotlin.

Most tutorials and how to's on Udemy show you the basics of app building, but they don't show you how to use the latest technologies and libraries.

Most projects and jobs require you to know how to use the latest libraries. This is what this course is all about.

The purpose of this course is to teach you most of the Jetpack libraries, and give you a practical example of how to use these technologies, all while building a simple example app.

We will learn about:

  • Navigation

  • Room

  • Data Binding

  • AndroidX

  • KTX extensions

  • Lifecycles

  • Live Data

  • ViewModel

  • Notifications

  • Permissions

  • Sharing

  • Preferences

  • Fragments

  • Layouts

  • Palette

  • Multidex

As a bonus, we will also learn

  • MVVM architecture

  • Retrofit

  • RxJava

  • Glide

And we will build the app in Kotlin.

We will cover a lot of technologies and we will implement them all in an application, so you can have a practical example.

If you want to build an app that scales and is robust, these technologies will make your life easy in the long term.

Sign up today, and let's learn how to use Jetpack to build a modern Android Application.

Would definitely recommend the course for those trying to gain a lot of insight on kotlin android dev. There's too much about android dev to cover in one course and this seems like a good fundamentals summary guide. Like others have mentioned, the code and libraries used here could be updated. A lot of the stuff is deprecated or just wouldn't work for me and I had to figure out how to use something more recent to fix the build errors. Anyways for what it's worth, great cource!

In general, the course content was good - it consists of a lot of useful info. One thing that I didn't like was that sometimes the instructor was implementing some functionality consisting of some lines of code, and only after finishing typing he would give a brief explanation of what he did, without going into any details regarding the different attributes that could be used and what each line of code means.

Content is well explained and the author knows what he's talking about. I think the only improvement that I would like to see in his courses are is to have like a section where he updates the libraries to the latest version and talk about or discuss if there are any breaking changes. It's a small thing but would've been above and beyond for the course. I initially took the course to learn more on the Jetpack libraries as I've been developing Android apps without it and it got me interested enough to also take his other course for state of the art android apps with Kotlin. I like his teaching style. He provides enough context on how to do something and then provides some sections where he encourages you to do it yourself. The practice helps you get familiar with the new code you watch so that it doesn't feel foreign to you once you start coding it yourself in other projects.

This course is very helpful to get from a zero knowledge in Android development to a point where you know what to research for. The app built is not that amazing, however, the instructor gives enough functionalities to try to develop your own ideas. The section 3 where a lot of implementations of libraries happen was not very good, feels pointless and chaotic, however, it is crucial for the development of the course , but if you can endure that first part this course is worth it for a beginner.

I finally finish the course. Everything that the instructor taught is helpful. I will not give it 5 stars because I thought and I was expecting to have a deeper discussion regarding Android Jetpack because it says "Masterclass" but it is a good introduction to Android Jetpack. Also, I ask a question two times regarding the the room database but didn't get any response so instructor is not really responsive. I hope the instructor will add more content or update the contents as Android evolve. Thank you.

Its awesome! At the university everybody acts like lectures and seminars are the best way to teach Android, but I'd bet my life they have not learned their skills that way. Courses are way more efficient in learning, way more fun too. I really have problem to catch up in school, there is a lot of pressure. The lecture however make me learn the same things in no time without any sign of fatigue or frustration.

This was an okay course. It isn't exactly a deep dive into any of the topics, but it pointed me in the direction of some topics that I should get a better understanding of. Because courses on this platform are relatively cheap, I can say it's easily worth the money I paid. And, because I dug into these topics a little more in depth (as a result of being introduced to them here) I have learned a lot as a result

I took this course having almost zero Android development knowledge. I came in with only my past experiences in web development with Javascript and some crash Kotlin learning and I was able to follow along and understand quite well the concepts outlined in this course. Concepts are well laid out and easy to follow and the pace is perfect. I can't say enough good things about this course. I feel empowered and inspired to continue my android development journey. Thank you so much.

Muchas gracias. Saludos desde México.

Great course. I recommend to anyone who already knows the basics, or writes on the basics. With the knowledge gained in this course, your life will become much easier. I would just like to have a source attached at the end of each part in order to compare the code with the code of the teacher.
