Course Description
NOTE: All GitHub repositories and SatckBlitz sample apps used in this course have been updated to use (and tested with) Angular v8.
This course focuses on the core concepts of Angular. Particular attention is given to the following areas:
RxJS Observables - learn about Reactive Programming in general, and then the specifics about the RxJS library that Angular uses with HTTP, forms, and routing. Observables, operators, and Subjects are all covered.
Change Detection - although this is at the heart of Angular, it is not widely understood. I'll explain all aspects of change detection. (Many of the Angular questions I've answered on StackOverflow are due to a lack of understanding of how change detection works.)
Dependency Injection - I'll explain how this feature automatically manages creating services for you, by simply "injecting" the desired services into class constructors.
Data Binding - I'll describe and demonstrate all of the different binding types in Angular, but more importantly, I'll illustrate (with detailed pictures) how the bindings actually work -- i.e., the component and DOM interactions. I'll also examine the common sources of confusion developers have when binding using JavaScript reference types in Angular apps.
Inter-Component Communication and Data Flow - learn how to manage data flow through your Angular application, and how to insert logic hooks that trigger when data becomes available or when data changes.
Consider taking this course if you are a developer who wants to quickly learn Angular concepts without having to read the online docs, blog posts, GitHub issues, and StackOverflow posts. I've attempted to digest some of that information for you, and I've attempted to streamline this course as much as possible -- no fluff! (Honestly, you don't need a 28 hour course to learn Angular.)
I'll teach you how to architect an app and how to "think in Angular." I'll discuss the real and conceptual trees that Angular builds and uses to achieve very fast change detection and multi-level dependency injection.
While exploring the concepts I'll iteratively develop an Angular app that utilizes all of the core concepts. I'll also show you a number of separate, small Angular apps (using StackBlitz) that demonstrate specific framework functionality. I'll spend time discussing some of the recurring issues that I've seen come up on StackOverflow with the angular tag, and I'll discuss some StackOverflow posts that reveal new techniques that you can't find in the Angular documentation.
Along the way, while you're learning Angular, you'll also learn some TypeScript and ES6/ES2015 features.
Note: There is a changelog at the end of this course -- it is the last "lecture".
Thank you for your interest in this course. I've donated some of the earnings from this course to helping people around the world (mostly education, farming, and health projects) through Zidisha.
Some student reviews:
"Excellent course, The teacher has a really deep knowledge of Angular, and he teach things that you are very unlikely to find anywhere else. I'm very pleased with this course because I'm learning tons of information and tricks that really set this course apart."
"Straight and to the point. Love it."
"If you liked Anthony Alicea's amazing Udemy course on Angular 1, you will love Mark Rajcok's course on Angular 2. Both courses emphasize a deep understanding of the material, not just code mimicry. There are already some good courses on Angular 2 out there; however, no one taught me how to "think in Angular 2" better than Mark."
"This is truly a fantastic course, it is very well thought out and delivered. I have completed many courses and tutorials and there are a lot of good ones out there, but this was the first course that I felt really explained the framework, concepts and best practices. There are many things in this course that I learnt to do in other courses but never really understood why, Mark traverses that gap in a very structured and clear way... His combination of theory and explaining things with diagrams and then following up with clear coding examples really makes a difference in this course..."
"I really like the approach in this course. Getting to understand how things work, not just how to do things."
"Bravo! A must see for Angular 2 developers. Clear and comprehensive instruction with excellent quiz usage. A+"
"i've purchased 3 other Angular 2 video series and this is the best so far"
"I have taken 5+ Developer oriented courses here on Udemy and consider myself a pretty competent developer. This instructor is the best one I have ever seen. He thoroughly explains concepts and tells us the inner workings of angular and why we do things the 'angular way'. A+++ Highly recommend."
"very informative and the major topic was change detection which was fantastic."
"the stated material is very interesting and cannot be found in other courses"
"I like the way this course, is more focused on why and how to help yourself writing better, efficient coding. Really helpful."
"Mark provides with his broad knowledge teaches not only code, but also the context of the code within ng. For a serious ng developer a must do course."
"This course was great discovery for me. Before taking it, I was already quite familiar with Angular. But still, course provided me with huge amount of useful informations, and clear, to-the-point explanations of not so much understood Angular concepts. I think any serious Angular developer can get great benefits from taking this course. ... take this course to deepen and fortify the knowledge about the framework. In a single place, course explains things about the framework which are very hard to find elsewhere. Furthermore, many additional resources are provided for further learning, which are not only useful by them selfs, but also introduce attendees to the, already vast, Angular ecosystem."
"Dev wisdom in a folksy, non-pretentious style. If you are trying to learn Angular, you would likely be best learning from two or three different instructors. This course doesn't purport to be "the only course you need to learn Angular"... and it isn't. Instead, it's a great compliment to an Angular "from the ground up" course. Do that one first, and then do this one."

I've been a programmer for 30+ years. It is my career and my hobby. I have experience developing full-stack web apps, server-side multi-threaded programs, near real-time embedded systems, and writing Spark programs to extract data from Hadoop clusters. Back in 2013 I became interested in AngularJS and soon after I started to spend a lot of time helping people learn the framework on StackOverflow and I got hooked. At the end of 2015, I started learning Angular 2 (then 3, 4, 5, ...) and once again I started answering questions on StackOverflow. The knowledge I've acquired I'll share with you.

Detail of Slides and Quizes is impressive. Where this falls down is the isntructor provides "Resources" for you to look at and uses Plunker for demos. Basically it is saying, hey here is some code, I will explain it, and now its on you to somehow translate that to coding from scratch. Other presentations I have seen take the student through the code, coding step by step incrementially. This helps learning. If the course is just slides and figure out the code, you can get that on youtube for free.

All the diagrams are very helpful. And the instructor covers a lot more details on the change detection topic. Now I have a much better understanding how angular change detection actually works. The other topic I find helpful is how components interact with each other with @Input() and @Output(). With the diagram on this particular topic, I have a clear mental picture how the data flows. I find the instructor did a really good job on explaining all these crucial fundamental concepts.

At first I was a bit skeptical about this being an outdated course regarding current version of angular but right after I finished it I understood that everything you learn in this course applies to newer versions of Angular too. I did learn a lot more that I expected and I'm grateful. Mark's very experienced and does a great job explaining all concepts and I really like that the provides links to the all resources mention. I'd like to see more real world examples where all this can be applied but the main focus is on the angular concepts so it's fine. Maybe if you updated this course, if you just provide real word examples links, articles. That'd be perfect. Thank you very much Mark.

I think the course is very professional. I love the fact that it shows you what goes on behind the scenes, and that it is aimed to developers who have done a thing or two :). A lot of the courses assume you have no knowledge of client-side application development concepts, and become too tiring pretty fast. I did not feel this way with this course. However, since the videos are not up-to-date, I sometime found it confusing, and uncertain if the what I've been shown is still relevant. I would have love it if a slide was added to explain the "subtle" changes that the CD went through after this course was created, a slide about modules, a slide about the changes to DI with modules in the picture, etc. I think that this is a good starting point, but anyone taking this course should be aware to the fact they would need to find other resources for Modules, Routing, Pipes and maybe more.

Finally! Some explanation of the seemingly sacred-gnossis that is Angular jargon. I've taken several tutorials and read books on Angular, and while they'll show you how to use FormControl and bind a class they won't explain in any depth how change detection really works or what any of the built-in classes like ContentChildren or Renderer2 do or how to utilize them. I now know what I'm looking at when I read through the code of an Angular component or library on GitHub. Angular's documentation sure isn't going to tell you much about what its code does.

This was definitely a useful Udemy course on Angular. However, some important topics were not covered, so I took one star off. Below is a list of topics that were not covered: - Setting up a development environment and the first (very simple) project written by hand. IDE options, Typescript/Angular feature support, pros/cons. - Bundling and minification under the hood (npm or otherwise), creating and navigating source maps (debugging in production). - Real world unit testing with dependency injection (without changing the source files). - Real world app using best practices: for example, MVC back end, Angular front end, basic forms data and validation, next/prev page and persistence using services. EDIT: added 1 star back for the recent content update. Thanks for giving a quick tour on rxjs, Mark!

Good course if you are a complete beginner. But as the title says collective wisdom, it didn't fulfill my expectation. Most courses on Udemy wont completely cover Route guards, Reactive programming, Observables or more deeper Angular concepts and yes this course as well did not cover any of those. Plus the author is not active enough on discussion, I got my reply after 3 months. Good course only if you are new, not a course if you are looking to master any concepts.

Clearest explanation of core concepts I've seen thus far. Mark breaks down the concepts in a slow and one-by-one manner. His experience of answering common questions is obvious as he is quick to point out the common errors one might make new to the framework. The associated diagrams during a lecture are great (some instructors just talk on and on blankly which is hard to follow). And the quizzes are a great little checkpoint to reinforce and make sure you understood. Hope to see more from you Mark!

This course was great discovery for me. Before taking it, I was already quite familiar with Angular 2. But still, course provided me with huge amount of useful informations, and clear, to-the-point explanations of not so much understood Angular 2 concepts. I think any serious Angular 2 developer can get great benefits from taking this course. Be aware that course material can be overwhelming sometimes, so it is not unusual to look at some lectures more than once to understand everything. In my opinion, course is not suitable for developers which want to write their very first Angular 2 app. However, when they do familiarize them selfs with Angular 2, they should really take this course to deepen and fortify the knowledge about the framework. In a single place, course explains things about the framework which are very hard to find elsewhere. Furthermore, many additional resources are provided for further learning, which are not only useful by them selfs, but also introduce attendees to the, already vast, Angular 2 ecosystem.

This is truly a fantastic course, it is very well thought out and delivered. I have completed many courses and tutorials and there are a lot of good ones out there, but this was the first course that I felt really explained the framework, concepts and best practices. There are many things in this course that I learnt to do in other courses but never really understood why, Mark traverses that gap in a very structured and clear way. Some examples of this include change detection, why we need to use providers and how they work etc. He also steps outside of the framework to explain the resources available and how to use those resources. His combination of theory and explaining things with diagrams and then following up with clear coding examples really makes a difference in this course. To be honest I will need to review parts of the course again because there is so much good content in here, I could not take it all in the first time through. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that is looking to learn Angular2.
