I'm a software developer specialized in building data-intensive applications.
I've been developing software for over 10 years.
I've worked for Industries that are very data-intensive such as the financials and industrial image processing.
Over the years, the volume of data produced by systems and humans outgrew the storage and compute capacity of the legacy RDBMS systems, and therefore I had to learn how to use the new tools and frameworks to process Big-Data
As a data engineer, I'm very motivated and passionate about building applications that can leverage the power and flexibility of cloud computing and big-data processing frameworks.

This is a high quality course and I enjoyed the instructor's style- he is easy to follow and really packs a lot into just several hours. However, if you are taking this course to pass the certification be warned that the curriculum is outdated: there is no coverage of Spark connect or structured streaming, as well as several newer functions, and the exam is now only in python whereas this course is taught in Scala. I was able to pass but I have experience with Spark already and took time to learn some of the new concepts outside of this course.

7/28/2025 - Outdated exam topics, too many variations in practice exam also confusing learners. Data bricks is also inconsistent about the exam topics/no. of questions. DB exam guide will say 45 questions in 90 mins, but they will give 55 questions for 90 mins. I recently took the exam and secured 70.5% but they marked as failed unfortunately as their cut of is 70% to pass (correct me if I am wrong). I raised a ticket to DB Certifications but no response yet. I am leaving this comment with date to help / alert other candidate to prepare to answer 55 questions in 90 mins with latest exam topics, that need more content to be added/updated to this course to cover. I am preparing with latest topics and my past experience as Data bricks Data Engineer , I am sure I will crack it after 14 days cooling period.

The Instructor is very clear about what he is teaching and the Quizes are very useful. The instructor is very familiar with the pulse of the students and his teaching is on point without uncertainties. I would highly recommend this course for Apache Spark using Scala beginners who want to acquire databricks certification.

Le cours est très intéressant, j'ai réussi passer la certification Databricks avec succès. Il va à l'essentiel et il explique bien. Le cours pourrait etre amélioré en rajoutant quelques fonctions comme sample, replace, datetime...

The course content is good, I passed the exam with a score of 83.33%. However, I have some feedback for the instructor: 1) Only the auto-generated subtitle is available and it is not accurate. As the instructor's audio is not so clear, sometimes is confusing, as the subtitle is wrong and won’t help to understand the technical words; 2) There are a lot of typos during the exercises, making the videos longer than required; 3) "Resources" are rare on the course. The instructor should include more links for external docs when mentioning that.

Although I have been using Spark for 1+ years, this is a good course to refresh my memory and gain knowledge on aspects I do not know of. Passed the exam with 85% in Python. Course is quite concise in the sense you do not need to know more than what you learn here. Only thing is the speaker's accent as I may not understand parts of it.

Excellent, I love it. Very good explanations, to the point -- and the quizzes are frequent and quite challenging, which is great. EDIT: Just to add that I have passed the certification exam. Apart from going through this course twice (and having previous data wrangling experience with pandas) I didn't really use any other resources. My score was 75% which is not spectacular, but I'm more than happy with it. :-))) Anyway, this course really covers the essence of the certification and as the author says -- you still need to check the documentation and understand which function uses a column object and which a string reference, that's maybe the trickiest part.

This is an excellent class (Update: I passed the cert exam on the second attempt, this class definitely helped me in my prep). Spark is a great tool, but I find the documentation, especially around the architecture, difficult to follow. These initial lectures are well organized and make it much easier to understand the intent of Spark and how the different layers interact.

Very good course if you are preparing for Databrick Certification. Thanks to author @Wadson Guimatsa for covering all the Spark certification related topics in very detailed manner.I recently cleared Databrick Certification and I hope this course will be of great use(very good refresher) for people who are looking of Databrick Certification.

A well organized course. I especially liked how spark architecture was explained in a simple manner. I hope this will help me in clearing databricks certification exam. Dear Wadson, If possible, kindly embed a notebook to this course with most frequently used dataframe api methods and functions as Spark documentation will only syntax but not any examples. Thank you.
