Apache Spark and Scala (Udemy.com)

I wish the course included more Spark scripting and creating RDDs from more complex data. The video could also be edited to remove some of the errors. The spacing on the syntax drove me crazy the first half. Just be consistent. The ML section of this course was hardly useful and should be better explored with larger synthetic or real data.

no focus on how the function or method is working. Just explaining the output doesnt help in better understanding.

Initial introduction to Hadoop was very much theoretical. Also the instructor seemed to read out from notes too fast. However, once the first section of Hadoop ends, rest of the sections beginning from scala are really quite good and easy to follow.

There isn't a real world demo shown. Every examples are done in the command line. But its good for starter.

Voice modulation , tone and technical know how is excleent

Very high level and very low level in snippets. Small contexts used very hard to see a proper end to end use. To much time explaining simple things such as a social graph, you would think the person viewing an Apache Spark grasp it in a few seconds. It's ok but misses the point of context and understanding in a real world use (which it only does in small bitesize examples).

scala programming examples are not practical without illustration of productive usage of Eclipse based ScalaIDE

This course is only touching basic part of scala. It is not worthy enough for those who want to learn in deep. The knowledge of this level can easily get through any scala website.

Really good course. Covers simple yet great example to easily understand core concepts of spark. Thanks for sharing such great content.

At the very start I felt that the instructor was lacking with some kind of quality or engagement, due to a lot of slides and not providing enough commitment. But, when she started the practical lessons I've found the lectures very useful and interesting. The lectures audio must be something to improve and maybe they can be presented in a shorter time to increase students attention and productivity. Also I think the instructor needs to provide us all the examples in a text file to easy testing and with hands on process (eployee.json / people.json files).
